NCL Escape Miami Disembarkation Time

Hi Everyone,

We have a cruise on the Escape booked for July 2016 and the itinerary says docking at 08:00. We have our flight home from Orlando at 16:15 and therefore are a little concerned about making the journey on time if disembarkation may take some time.

What has your experience been of docking times? Are these generally accurate and what time have you actually got through immigration?

Thanks in advance all!

My flight leaves MIA at 955 so I'm curious to know if i'm missing it.

We had a leisurely breakfast, disembarked about 9:30 and arrived at the Miami airport around 10:30 after waiting on a shuttle bus for about 20 minutes. It was a 20 minute ride to the airport on Saturday morning. We could have left much earlier, taken a taxi and probably been at the airport by 8:30.

Remember, they will not start disembarkation until 45-60 minutes after the ship arrives in port. You have to line up early and be able to carry all of your luggage off yourself. When we were on the Escape, it arrived early and walk-off disembarkation started at 7:30. After a short queue in customs and a short queue for a taxi, we were at MIA around 8:45.

Now if the ship arrives "on time" or there is a queue in customs due to heightened security, the time to airport will be much later. And most airlines cut off check-in bags 45 minutes before flight time.

Any body know what the latest time you can disembark at Miami. We are sailing on Getaway. Our flights are 2:20 from Miami so just wondering what to do. There will be a party of 6 (4 adults & 2 kids).

This past Saturday we docked at 6:30am and they had just started calling tag colors around 8:45 if not a bit later. We did self carry and didn't get off the ship until after 10:30 and there were still a handful of colors to be called behind us. O'Sheehans was fairly full of people with luggage waiting to do self carry off as the last group.

Some people had said the little bit of rain slowed the process down but I can't speak to that.

Try the post-cruise ShoreEx airboat ride and gator farm. They will drop you and your luggage off at the airport after the ride.

I have done this excursion a few years ago through Carnival. It was a good trip.

How do they do the colour tags for disembarkation? Is it just random when you time will be or can you request a time? We will be in no rush to leave the ship.

Can you eat in Taste or Savor that morning or only buffet? Thanks!

The day before disembarkation you go to guest services. There is a rack on the wall and you pick the color matching the time you want to disembark. If you want a leisurely morning, pick a late time. Tours all get black tags with assigned a meeting time in the theater.

Zignewt,

What deck did you line up at or by what landmark on the ship?

If you had to do it over again and your flight was the same time, would you line up earlier or later?

We did a walk off through the O'Sheahans. The line goes back through the bar and back into the casino. They started walk off around 7:30 (when customs shows up for work) and were at MIA before 9:00

Hi, we are going on the Escape on Sept 10-17/16.

Our flight home isn't until 8:20pm, therefore we are in no rush to get off the boat.

What is the latest time we can leave the ship? Can we stay on it until say, 10am and then reserve our shuttle for 11am?

Thanks

Jennifer

10 o'clock is about the absolute latest they will allow you to stay on board, usually last call is about 9:30. Definately sign up for a post cruise excursion, they will then take you the airport FLL or MIA included in the excursion price. The airboat one is a really neat trip with the gator park as well.

Otherwise you can get a hotel room for the day and use the pool/beach and take a taxi to the airport (or hotel shuttle if they have one) and you won't have to sit around the airport for 5 hours.

They will be shoo'ing you off the ship at 10 am.

Be aware that by 11 am, the port will be getting busy with people arriving for embarkation starting at 11:15. You may experience the "salmon swimming upstream" if you need to move you luggage to a pick-up point.

Those some like some great ideas.

I was thinking of renting a car at the airport and just driving around,

but I have a feeling the traffic is chaos there LOL (Im from a town of 2500 people, so it will probably be insane for us)

I like the hotel idea too, then we can have a nap! LOL

So our flight options were limited and we fly out at 9:30 am. I know this sounds crazy, but I'm hoping for the best since we carry our own luggage off and hop in a cab.

Is there a Global Entry line to clear customs in Miami? We did have one in FLL this year. Also, on what deck is the aft exit located?

Thanks for the guidance!

Can you tell me more about the NCL post cruise excursions (prices and length of time)? We, for example, have a 5:35 p.m. flight from FLL (so pretty late). Would there be enough time to do an excursion with NCL before that? Plan B is just go to the airport, check bags with bags to go, and take the Sun Trolley from the airport to a shopping/restaurant/museum area (not all that exciting, but still very nice that they have this option).

There is no Global Entry Lane at the Port of Miami. Customs is a simple review of your declaration and passport. The CBP officers stand in front of the booths moving people through quickly. Cruises out of the POM are usually close loop so no one is entering the country for the first time.
