Jade v sky

Okay - we have just booked another NCL cruise - we tend to float between lines - but have to say - after last years TA on Celebrity - as much as we love them - for a TA cruise - NCL does it better.

However - in between our last Epic cruise and Celebrity - my daughter and I met up in Miami - and took a 4 day Bahamas trip.

We christened that ship "THE SCABBY SKY" -

It was appalling beyond anything you can believe - filthy - och - not even going to explain. Its too long to review and too bad - we just put it down to short cruise bad experience - been there and wont go back!

Now - we are going on the Jade and although all booked up - I am a teency wee bit worried we might face the same problems. I have NO problem with old - and I can totally forgive wear and tear as long as its clean wear and tear- I know JADE is due a refurb - hey Epic was due a refurb when we cruised on her and we loved it!

We got an amazing deal with drinks and speciality dining so the price was awesome - ports are great -

But after being on the SKY - I am a teency bit worried - was Epic a one off fab experience?

Has anyone done both Jade and Sky?

Was SKY merely a "4 day short party cruise issue"?

I am hoping for the same service we received on the Epic - and cleanliness!

Thoughts please?

Unfortunately I cannot comment on the Sky.

However, we were on the Jade the week of 1/16 and had an absolutely fantastic time. The ship was clean, not as much Hawaiian décor as I expected. Staff were fantastic. Service and food were great. We enjoyed the shows. Would have liked to made money in the casino but oh well....

Hi, I've been on both ships. My Sky experience was not as bad as yours :), but the Jade is definitely a major step up. More restaurants, kept very clean, great entertainment. We sailed her for a week in southern Europe, but I could definitely imagine being on her for a longer period of time. The pool area would get quite crowded, that was really my only issue with the ship--but I don't think that will be an issue across the North Atlantic! Oh, we did get bad service in one of the lounges that had a musical act we really liked--but otherwise service was always good.

When we were on the SKY it was last November - we paid for the UBP but would have been better off not buying it - only way we could get served was bribery - it really was one of the worst cruises we have ever had (I have only had one other which was truly a bad cruise) SKY is up there alongside that one.

Hey I did Sky also after The Equinox trip. Last minute very cheap. It's a four day party boat. Never had issues with getting drinks, however service was kinda blah in most areas. And yes not a luxury ship at all.

Going to try NCL Spirit in August my friend did the Spirit a few years ago and loved the ship.
