The Retreat on Rotterdam

I'm assuming you're talking about the back of the ship on the Lido?

No extra charges.

It has a wading pool with recliners in the wading pool. One side has a pizza station and the other has a bar.

It wasn't getting much use on our Voyage of the Vikings, but we had a cold weather itinerary.

It's a great open area for taking photos. I took my tripod out there a few times, and got a wonderful panorama on my wall that I took from the Retreat in Reykjavik. One of the crew told me he used it for sunsets.

Newby question here -

As a newbie, you may not be aware that HAL has a (bad) habit of using the same word for different things.

On the Vista/Signature ships, The Retreat refers to a quiet, private, area where people pay to have a cabana with lounger and table/chairs, and an outside area with more tables and chairs.

The Pinnacle ship has a reduced version of that.

But on the Rotterdam and Veendam, the original use of "Retreat" merely refers to the Lido aft outside deck that was changed from the original design, and with the original Sea View Pool removed.
