basketball goal?

A good question. There is a disco late night. The bar is open. There is a gym. One show at night. Other than that?

This is a small ship!

No giant rock climbing wall. No tennis or sport venues. No slide into pool.

Lots of conviviality around the ship. As I said the bars are open.

Movies in room.

Reading? Swimming...water polo games?

Yes probably tired from early wake up call.

I forgot when you are going.

If it's summer in the med it is really hot.

I think it's the Shadow in the next week or so which means Alaska. Hot is a relative term but it won't be Med warm. :)

Alaska is one of my all time favorite itineraries:)........hopefully they will be off the ship during the day. There are so many

wonderful excursions/places to see/things to do on an Alaskan cruise:).........

Get off the ship during the day. There are lots of things to do at the ports on this itinerary, even if you don't do official shore excursions.

At night, back on board, they can enjoy a good meal, knowing that they can eat as much as they want. It'll be an opportunity to experience fine dining, without the bill at the end.

is there a bball goal on the Shadow? any other sport activities?
You do realize you are cruising on a small luxury line correct? There are no bball goals. Sports activities include putt-putt, shuffle board, and pool volleyball.

There may be a few organized activities such as golf putting.

There is the Fitness Center.

None of the luxury lines have basketball courts.

Crystal Ships do have Paddle Tennis. I think maybe Regent does too on some of the ships but could be wrong.

The good news is there will likely be a lot of kids on board so hopefully they will meet others and they can hang out together.

I see you have only been on Norwegian and Carnival as per your signature. You may want to go to the Silversea website and view the "life on board" section. Carnival and Silversea are about as different as a Chevy and a Bentley. No sarcasm intended. One is a mass market line. The other is a true, luxury line.

You are lucky to have such a Mom.

Enjoy her and enjoy it.

I was thinking the same thing:)........I know every family is different......we went camping when I was a kid;)......the first

cruise we took "as a family" was in 1992 for my folks 50th Wedding Anniversary....it was a 3 or 4 nighter (can't remember

for sure) but it was a weekend cruise on an old Carnival ship....I believe it was called THE CARNIVALE......now that was

a long time ago.

We did vacations together just not cruising vacations.

This is our first cruise EVER together- Mom has been on 2 other Silversea and it is right up her alley. My siblings etc haven't done a cruise but I've taken mine on a few big ships!!! She was talking about the butler last night! We are very lucky!!

Don't worry too much, you won't have a lot of time to play games during the day due to this is a very port intensive cruise. You can spend all day off the ship and play the usual drinking games in the bar. You will definitely like the price of the drinks. Agree most of the town's are small and you can walk them in a couple of hours. Will need to be creative to find things to do in most of those towns. One thing that made the whole trip worthwhile was the helicopter ride to the mountian camp and spend the day dog sledding. Maybe the other was the Scenic train trip to the Canada gold rush area.

I've booked us in each port doing something so we will be busy! Whale watching and dog sledding in Juneau, boys fishing in Sitka, Skagway- girls going kayaking in Haines while mom and big girls go on train in Skagway- doing the Misty Fjords trip in Ketchikan.
