Young adults/children Cabin

Casino Comp Chick- great advise! Not sure why it pisses people off so bad. It's NCL's ship, they have every right to offer this situation.

The situation that causes controversy is when two families book four adults into the suite and all the kids into the balcony with no intention of this sleeping arrangement. This gives both families access to the Haven where if they booked their rooms individually only one family would have access.

H6 is the aft penthouse on Away class ships which are the ones with connecting balconies.

It's for BOOKING PURPOSES ONLY...they do NOT care who sleeps where. And, what do parents of LARGE families do? 2 parents and 5 or 6 kids....no way to have 1 adult in each room. There ARE "work arounds"!

The problem is with the promos. In our first cabin, I'm getting the UBP, my 20 year old is getting the sofa package. In the second cabin, DH is getting the UBP, my 19 year old is getting the soda package. It would be much better financially if DH could be booked in the same cabin, both get the UBP, and the kids could get free gratuities. Our cabins are connecting. Of course families can switch up the sleeping arrangements, the problem is with the promos.

Still not true when it comes to connecting cabins. It was done very recently, I know this for a fact.

It must depend on the rep - I tried 3 times, and was told it can't be done.

Are you referencing your Gem cruise? You indicate one perk per cabin so I assume you have two insides. You have me confused as I don't know of any connecting insides on this ship.

Many people think just because they are of the minimum age to serve in the military that automatically gives them the same respect and privileges of the very few that do step up and serve.

If the cabins have a connecting door then you should have them reference their own website, the link I posted earlier in this thread. I have seen other threads saying NCL wouldn't honor this, only making the exception for suites. Others have had no problems.

I guess I can try again. I was told that if there are 2 people over 21, they had to be booked as the first person in each cabin.

Well, I went back to that link and the faq has been changed since I made that link post. It now no longer has the exemption for connecting cabins.

The terms are still the same, Connecting cabins can be booked with all under 18's/21's.

After 2 hours on phone NCL won't book my kids ( 18 and 16) in a cabin next door? I am being told the policy has changed, they are stricter and kid/young adult cabin has to be either a connecting cabin or just place one adult in each cabin. We'd book with one adult in each cabin.. but, with the drink package promotion, the costs change dramatically if we split up. We've cruised with NCL 4 times in 2015 ( 3 were weekends) - and had no booking problems. Any input? Thanks!

I have my two 19-year olds directly across the hall from us without an issue. In fact, I just printed everyone's e-docs. Call them back and speak to someone else.

If there is a way around the rules, some will always do it. Funny, if NCL figures it out and closes the loopholes, those that have been doing it will be the first to have an issue with the new rules.

It is not getting around the rules when NCL clearly states the policy. The problem with people is they don't seem to understand what the rules are so they make them up as they go along to suit their purposes which is kind of funny when it has no impact on their cruises.

They do not clearly state anywhere that kids booked in a connecting non-suite/Haven stateroom get suite/Haven privileges, do they?

Actually it is a policy, on another group page a whole to-do was started and a TA went straight to the top with that exact question and yes it is policy and boy were people pissed. You would find that by looking up a certain Haven group page.

You can email NCL yourself if you feel the need.

Just an FYI. That 250 minute free wifi will get eaten up by day 2. However if you take the free wifi you can pay about $100 extra once onboard to upgrade to unlimited.

Just off the gem yesterday. Took the free wifi but knew other pax who did also but upgraded to unlimited.

Trust me you will need unlimited for them

OP, take another shot at it. If they still won't do it tell them you will be sailing another line that week and in the foreseeable future. If they can't get their stuff together enough to even present a coherent policy they don't deserve your money.

We wouldn't want to hurt these kids feelings or reduce their self worth or give them long term emotional problems causing them to not be able to cope now would we? Lol

Fwiw....I cannot believe the number of parents that pay for every single thing the kids want these days!!!

These same parents look at me like I'm nuts when I say all 4 of my kids pay their cell bills!!!

What????? Every kid should be earning by age 15....babysitting....lawn care...snow plowing...caddy....camp counselor....

My 15 year old made $200 babysitting this week

My college junior...2x that!!!

This is how solid citizens are made....good education...work ethic....time for fun...sports...community work....

I just met an 80 yo at the grocery store complaining about money...but she went on to tell me she pays her 50 yo sons cell bill...because its on her family plan. Lol

The 50yo is married with a house and grown kids too

As someone who hires a couple dozen "youts" for seasonal work in the summer I can tell you finding "kids" that don't feel entitled and have a good work ethic is damn hard. When I find a good one I usually ask them,

"Do you have any brothers or sisters?"

Work ethic tends to run in the family. Hmmm? I wonder why? :rolleyes:
