a question about the vegas style show and appropriateness for young children

My husband and I went to these shows way before children and enjoyed them. My memory is a little fuzzy. But just need to know are the women wearing thong like clothing on stage or is that just for the late show/adults only?

They are wearing thong like clothing under skirts and you will see a glimpse during a twirl or kick, but the kids will see much more skin on the lido deck in the afternoon than the stage at night.

The shows are nothing like they used to be. They are far from "Vegas type" anymore with Playlist. I don't recall seeing a thong since they switched show types.

Definitely agree....the dancers in the shows are in great shape....a lot of people that show skin on the Lido deck shouldn't be, give the little tykes nightmares :')

In early 90s we went on our first cruise..the disney/premier big red boat...whiled docked in nassau..we took the disney excursion to a show at the casino...thankfully our children were with camp goofy babysitters...disney got us a table right at the stage..there were jugglers..comedy..white tigers disappearing. And uncovered dancers. You would be surprised how many couples brought their kids to the show...we have not been on a disney cruise since..but not for that reason:cool:

The earlier shows are "family friendly"...nothing inappropriate, IMO...

It really depends on the ship, I think. When we've sailed on the Triumph, one of the nights they have a "Vegas-style magic show" with some rather skimpily clad dancers. I've never had an issue with it but I know some parents might.

The Vegas style shows are the same in both time slots....The comedians typically have a PG show earlier in the evening and an R rated one later. they recommend no one under 18 attend, but parents seem to think it doesnt apply to their kids because there seem to be alot of young kids at the R rated comedy shows

Yes they are :)

They may see cheeks but that is it, some of the girls outfits are a little higher cut than others. The shows really are nicely done and very engaging. IMHO nothing I would worry about taking children to. They are likely to see far worse at their local Walmart lol!

Also, everything that shouldnt "show" is well taped in. Dancers use a special costume tape that holds very well. Never seen a malfunction!

The flashing lights are great migraine triggers. We walked out on Diva's before DW got a headache.

Also, everything that shouldnt "show" is well taped in. Dancers use a special costume tape that holds very well. Never seen a malfunction!

Some current day singers/entertainers need to find that special tape. Seen several 'malfunctions' lately. :o

You could check the kiddos into the camp for a couple hours and go to the first show w/o them to feel things out and then make a call as to whether to take them w/ you for any of the following shows. Everyone has a different opinion as well as way of raising their little ones. What may offend one, doesn't offend the other. The last set of shows we saw on the Glory, I felt had a little suggestive material in them as well as scantily clad people that I would prefer my young guys not see. Yes, they may see this or worse at school or simply being out in the world, but I choose not to purposely expose them to it if I can help it. That's just me. My sister would have no qualms about having her kids sit and enjoy the shows. No right or wrong, just different opinions. If in doubt, as I mentioned at the beginning, go to one show on your own. Feel it out. And then make the call.

Anyone that is offended most likely doesn't let their children on lido deck. MUCH more skin than the shows ever have. I can't imagine any child thinking anything about it. I can't imagine parents worrying about that if they aren't worried about thongs on lido.

Oh, I'm worried about thongs. Guess we'll handle that when that situation arises. We have been in line behind one at a water park. In my opinion, just not appropriate if there's a chance children are around. Just my opinion though.

Agree. I always wonder what people are thinking in a family atmosphere with some of the "bathing suits" they choose. Wait until you're on an island and go to a nude beach if you need to wear that. I've never been offended by the shows and we've been on 16 cruises and have four kids. That just my opinion though. It depends on the age of the kids too. Most really young ones wouldn't even know what they are seeing haha.

We have never cruised with children either although there are threads on here on that topic if you do a search. I bet you can find some feedback from first hand families who have used it. I've heard that the camp provides activities, crafts, "field trips", snacks, etc. I wouldn't have any worries as to placing my kids in there for a bit and letting them decide on if they want to go back for more or not. Carnival is going to want to keep the kids happy so that the adults are happy too!

Don't go to Orient Beach in St. Maarten. There's a man in his 70's walking around with a hard appendage over his flab waiting to pose for pictures for a tip. No pun intended.

I don't know how old your children are but Camp Carnival is absolutely wonderful! My kids always enjoyed it and I never felt uncomfortable leaving them there. They have all kinds of fun activities for them to do. I will say that if you leave them in the evening, babysitting fees apply depending on the time.

The only "malfunction" I've ever witnessed on the stage, was a MALE dancer, who actually lost his pants, and had NOTHING on underneath. That happened at the edge of the stage, and he very quickly covered up, and departed the scene. I sit front/center more often than not, and a great majority of the audience never saw it. Those who did, however, and all the rest of the dancers went ballistic with laughter. GREAT show! LOL

You will see more scantily clad people on the Lido deck....the shows are fine for kids.
