Rome to Venice-which side of the ship?

We are booking a Rome to Venice 10 day cruise, which will go from Rome up to Livorno, down to Sicily, then to Greece, Montenegro, Slovenia, Croatia then Venice. We've never done this itinerary. Trying to figure out which side of the ship would give us port views, but since we're going around Italy, I'm thinking starboard side would maximize the port views?

Just done this.some ports are grotty!!!

Get up about 3 hrs before docking in Montenegro to see the beautiful 'fjord' as you go through.Stunning, either side,...

Not sure what ship you are on but we were on Riviera and so disappointed that there was nowhere at the front of the ship to see where we were going without looking through glass.

get a forward facing cabin then it does not matter which way the ship docks ;)

You have a 50/50 chance of being on the right side of the ship

I have never been on the Riviera or Marina.

When I looked at the deck plans for Riviera, it appeared as if the side of the ship for ports that could take a level gang way was only the port side. Am I wrong? (would not be the first time)

We are doing an itinerary very similar (7 nights instead of 10) and wondered the same thing - then we decided it really didn't matter much. I do appreciate the suggestion to get up and watch going through the fjord 3 hours before arrival.
