Star Breeze Cabin Advice - 322

Just reserved cabin 322 on the Breeze and greatly looking forward to the trip. I'm a first time Windstar cruiser, so this is a new type of ship for me. If anyone has stayed in this cabin or the general deck/area, I have a couple of questions. This cabin is relatively near the casino and the Compass Rose. I read somewhere that these areas are non-smoking - still true? I like a quiet cabin - has anyone had negative experiences with noise level from casino/lounge? Thanks!

The only smoking on the entire ship is on one side of the outdoor top deck.

We've stayed very close to there if not the exact cabin, and had ZERO trouble with noise. It can actually be fairly nice to be close to the central stair, and there isn't much on that landing except the Library and the Signature Shop (where we never saw a single person shopping, ever, on our last itin. Up a flight is Veranda and down one is Reception and the Cruise desk (which is pretty much seldom open). The only noise you might get is when people are leaving for tours in the morning, but we're always up and about by then in any case, and it was never an issue. Actual disembarkation is usually a deck below, and when people return in the afternoon they mostly just head toward their cabins. Some receptions are in Compass Rose and you might notice a flow of traffic for a few minutes in the late afternoon, but beyond that we never heard a peep.

Thanks milepig! That's very helpful and reassuring. We're early risers, too, so no problem with that. Sounds like a good choice for us.

As early risers, a HUGE tip is that they're making real coffee to order in the Yacht Club along with little pastries, smoothies, etc. By day 2 the person will know what you want. I always waited to eat for breakfast, but the ability to take a cup of good coffee out on a deserted top deck was heaven if the weather is nice. In bad weather the YC is also comfortable. I'm the first one up and shower and then go up to the YC while Mrs. Milepig is getting ready and then we meet in the Veranda for breakfast. If you're a crossworder, the sheets are usually out by reception by that time.

Many days, I'd be up top at the same time the ship was docking which can be interesting to watch.

That quiet time is quite possibly my favorite part of the cruises. Don't tell Mrs. Milepig, but this is also the time I sneak a look at my work email, as I almost always have cell service from the shore by that time.

Great tip - good coffee as soon as possible is vital! :) I'll be the one on the top deck with the coffee while my husband is in the cabin checking his work email. I'm not going to even pretend he's not.

We both pretend we don't know that we're each reading work mail. Actually we have a deal. We're allowed to check it before breakfast and then again when we're having a glass of wine in the afternoon. Works for us.

This is my retirement celebration trip, so no work email for me. :D Leaving two days after my last regular day of work. So I'll be super-tolerant of my husband checking up on work since he's choosing to work on...
