KLM/Delta

We are considering booking our air to Amsterdam using Royal Caribbean's Air2Sea program. If we are ticketed on KLM but flying Delta, will we able to choose our seats through Delta (no charge?). If we are ticketed through Delta and fly on KLM, can we choose our seats through KLM (additional charge?).

Thank you, I plan to but sometimes incorrect information is given by Royal Caribbean. I was hoping that there is someone on Cruise Critic who may be able to respond from personal experience.

You can do both but all you will need are the corresponding booking number. These are different for each airline but you can ask for the number and use it without any problem. I am not sure about the costs because we upgraded to comfort class, which is not P.E. but does give you some extra leg room.

You'll just need the correct booking reference number from Delta. If you booked through KLM you will then need to call KLM or give Delta your KLM ticket number. Then you can see your reservation online and move forward with the changes you wish to make.

If you plan to fly Delta, make sure you don't wind up with a Basic Economy fare. That particular fare is very restrictive and does not allow you to choose your seats. Seat assignments are done either at check-in or at the gate which means the only seats left at that time will be the ones no one else wants!

Someone else's experience would only be possibly relevant if they were flying on the same fare basis as you would be. And since you don't know that going in, what happened to someone else may not apply to YOUR ticket.

Again, it all comes down to the actual fare basis for your ticket. Unless you know what RC is selling to you, you have no idea what the rules are and how it would compare to a ticket bought directly from either DL or KL.

Pig in a poke is what they used to call it. (And for those who will say "it's the same flight" -- it's NOT the same ticket, and that's what really matters)

We just purchased our flights for our April 2018 Celebrity cruise on Choice Air which is also part of RCL. Our flights are on KLM/Delta and we were able to select our seats with Economy-fare tickets. We had to pay to select our seats for the KLM portion (outbound flights) but did not have to pay for the flights flown by Delta (inbound flights). However, as the previous poster had mentioned, things might be different due to how the tickets are issued.
