Cloud 9 Spa / Spa Cabins

Hello everyone!

Am looking into a future cruise booking for a "girl's cruise" and we are interested in the spa rooms.

Do any of you, who have experience with multiple ships have an opinion as to which of the Cloud 9 Spa ships has the nicest spa / spa rooms? Or are they all similar?

Only ship I've been on with Cloud 9 was the Splendor and did not visit the spa on that trip...

I've had spa cabins on the Magic and Dream, they were basically indentical. The gym was laid out a little different though.

Not all the Cloud 9 ships have a Thalassotherapy Pool. If that's important to you, check to make sure the ship has one.

I had a spa balcony on breeze. The spa was awesome. A girls dream for sure. Our room was 11243. Great room no noise from upstairs

Beyond decor (more calming & subdued) and location (high and forward close to spa) there is really not much difference in the cabins themselves between a Cloud 9 Spa cabin and the regular cabin of the same type on board on a lower deck. What you are paying extra for in the Cloud 9 cabins is proximity to the Spa for ease of use of the 2 Thermal Suite passes (for the first 2 adults in the cabin only), 4 free Yoga or Pilates classes (2 per pass holder), small travel size bottles of premium shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, and shower gel (no refills), a small container of salt or sugar scrub, 2 pairs of spa slippers, and use of a spa branded bathrobe. If there are more than 2 adults in the cabin wishing to use the thermal suite they will need to purchase the passes on their own.

So compare the price of the type of cabin on the deck you normally prefer to stay on then add in the cost of spa passes listed below in quote from FAQs, to see if it is more economical to go that way. Cloud 9 thermal suite passes can be purchased pre-boarding in your Cruise Manager, and may even be less expensive if the couples option is available. A couple need not be a romantic or family relation, just any 2 adults on the same booking.

Also be aware the Sunshine, Vista, and Horizon do not have the Thalassotherapy Pool, though the Vista and Horizon has a private hot tub in the thermal suite area. This hot tub was no different than the ones out on deck and in fact felt smaller than those. Also the Vista lacks the contoured heated seats that is on the Splendor, Dream, Breeze, and Magic in side the thermal rooms, nor is there the sweeping ocean views that the floor to ceiling glass on these 4 other ships have.

The Cloud 9 Spa centers are over 20,000 square feet and encompass two forward decks (one deck on the Carnival Sunshine). Some of the facilities are capacity controlled and extra charges may apply.

The Cloud 9 Spa and Cloud 9 Spa staterooms and suites are on the following ships: Carnival Breeze, Carnival Dream, Carnival Horizon, Carnival Magic, Carnival Splendor, Carnival Sunshine and Carnival Vista.

Guests in Cloud 9 Spa accommodations have access to the spa and are eligible for exclusive spa packages and discounts. Passes for the cruise duration can be purchased on board at the Cloud 9 Spa or pre-purchased online by accessing 'Manage My Booking' from the Carnival.com home page. Daily passes can only be purchased on board at the Cloud 9 Spa.

The Thalassotherapy Pool, covered by a glass dome, features water jets that massage your body as it soaks in ionized water at a temperature of 91°F (33°C). Thalasso is Greek for 'of the sea' and these pools have a special formulation ocean water rich with trace elements and vitamins. Gently heated to body temperature, the pool alleviates arthritic pain, soothes sore muscles and offers relief for sport injuries. The pool has a series of hydro-jets specifically designed to work on a specific area of the body. You can relax on wide, ergonomic benches made of metal piping that are built into the side of the pool and float in the warm water.

Rasul Bath

After a short shower, different medicinal earths are applied to the body in the Rasul. Cozy warmth and low humidity quickly dries the mud on the skin. With several steam infusions, the room is slowly heated up, and as the humidity increases; the mud liquefies on the skin and creates a tingling sensation. Finger bowls - with running water built into the arms of the seats - allow the guest to keep the mud moist while rubbing on their skin. This removes dead skin cells. Supported by the massaging effect, the subcutaneous tissue is tightened and the muscular tone and metabolism are stimulated. Temperatures: starting at approximately 100.4°F (38°C) rising to 115-122°F (46-50°C)

An elaborate and exclusive Thermal Suite, which offers intensive relaxation and a new sensory experience provided through individually, designed heat therapy chambers to cleanse, tone and purify the body, using alternating dry and wet heat chambers. The thermal suite is an exclusive facility within the spa offering different areas for specific therapeutic needs.

Dry Heat Chamber: Laconium

The Dry Heat Chamber, or Laconium, is a large dry heat bath/sauna-like chamber where circulation is stimulated, accelerating and mobilizing the body's own defenses, while reducing stress.Body circulation is stimulated at a temperature of 131-149° F (55-65° C).

The Tepidariumis a rest zone comprising ergonomically shaped heated loungers that offer the benefits of radiant heat. The pleasant room climate offers numerous benefits to health. The length of time spent in a Tepidarium is not limited; the revitalizing and comforting effect can be enjoyed for hours. Ambient temperatures around 100.4°F (38°C).

Dry Heat Chamber: Infrared Heat Chamber

The Infrared Heat Chamber system is built into the walls with 80 percent of the heat gently warming the body and the remaining 20 percent of infrared heat released into the air, providing cooler, more consistent temperatures than traditional saunas. The beneficial effects of a sauna remain the same: body detoxification to increase energy, burn calories, decrease inflammation, relieve pain and improve blood circulation in the skin to enhance delivery of oxygen and nutrients.

Steam Chamber: Oriental Steam Bath

Oriental Steam Bath is typically referred to as a large steam chamber called the Caldarium. The high humidity provides an extremely relaxing climate. The respiratory tract is cleansed, circulation stimulated, muscle tension relaxed, the skin becomes pliant and supple. The ideal duration of stay in the steam bath is 10 to 15 minutes. Using a Caldarium also has a purifying effect on the whole body. Temperature: 104-112°F (40-50°C).

The Steam Chamber with Aroma Steam and Aromatic Grotto is a small, intimate chamber where high humidity and radiant heat create a moist, warm climate that gently but thoroughly cleanses the skin and respiratory tract with herbal steam featuring sweet aromas such as cinnamon, orange or apple. Temperature: 104-112°F (40-50°C).

Hammam Chamber

Developed during the Ottoman Empire as a place of regeneration, contemplation and inner peace. The aim is both physical and spiritual cleaning, along with loosening of joints and muscles by ladling warm water over the body to slowly increase temperature to approximately 113° F (45° C).

We have done the Cloud 9 on the Dream and Magic. Spa balcony on the Dream and Spa Interior on the Magic. We also bought a spa pass while on the Dream on a different sailing while we were in a cove balcony. The Spa layouts were different, but we liked the Dream better. Each has a relaxation room with water and chairs for sitting, but I recall that the one on the Magic was open to anyone where the one on the Dream was only open to those using the spa.

Splendor, spa balcony. We went to the thermal suites twice a day, and the Thalassotherapy pool at least once, if not twice, a day. The therapy pool is cold in the mornings, or else we'd have gone in the morning. We also appreciated the cucumber and citrus waters in the waiting room. It's great taking a few steps in a bathrobe to the spa. We also showered in the spa area showers, which are unique and fun. Didn't take advantage of any spa services. Booked another spa balcony on the Splendor for next summer.

We have had spa cabins on the 3 dream class ships and we love them. We only book them if its a good value compared to another cabin we like plus spa passes. In my opinion, the Breeze spa has the best overall offerings. Access is simpler and rooms are larger in general. The only thing we like better about the Dream spa is the placement of 2 particular tile loungers and I bet most who have been there know which ones I mean. The door system on the dream is annoying though. I wouldnt book a spa cabin or buy passes if the ship didnt have a T pool. I also wouldnt book a deck 12 balcony because there is no shade and much less privacy. Deck 11 is practically on lido and has quick access to the spa and serenity, which in my opinion, makes the cruise =)
