Dear Tigerwilf

We did this cruise along with the Mayan Treasures in January this year, so good that we are booked for the Cuban Reveloution next January.

I posted a full review on the Cruise Bulletin site called Superb Cuba.

they say that there is a $22 exit tax in jamaica....but no one asked for it

here's the relevant extract from my review

but, bonus! .. . the Jamaicans didn’t charge the $22 exit viza fee that thoms had taken great steps to warn us all about

not booked yet do you pay a departure tax

You do notary the departure tax in Jamacia if you have been on a cruise only holiday. The departure tax only applies to people who have had a land based holiday on the island.

Fwiw, my view is and I shouldn't perhaps say it here, if you want a reasonably good overview of Cuba before it becomes "Americanised", go on a 14 day escorted trip.

We did such with Saga last November and, thanks to our guides, learnt much about the place.

i wonder why they always seem to go to such lengths to warn us about this tax when we are booking a cruise online?? if there is no tax to pay for cruise passengers??

Dear Geomagot

I think it is because a lot of people do a cruise and stay over the two weeks, as we are doing in January and as we will be returning to the airport from a hotel, we will be due the 22 dollar charge.
