Any good crazy complaints you have heard?"

On the last night of our RCL Indy cruise last year there was a lady giving the GS staff hell. We were in line waiting to pay up as we had a cash account.

In short, her little darling teenage boy had ran up a rather large bill on his account (sounded like $500 or over) and she was angry that the cruise line had let him do this. They had showed her the contract that explained responsibilities and advised about cash limits and such but she said it was their fault for having so many tempting things on board and that the staff didn't know how to handle teenagers and this and that.

They kept telling her it needed to be paid and she kept arguing she wasn't going to pay it and that she couldn't. We went back through the promenade an hour later and she was still there being spoken to by a more senior officer type and still going crazy although this time her rather intimidating husband had joined in the arguement. No sign of little darling.

Never found out what happened.

If you have ever been on a behind the scenes tour you would know that the hot water is generated from the heat of the engines ( which are always hot and running) if they ACTUALLY ever run out of hot water then that would be the least of the ships issues. it's not like at his home where there is a small hot watetankks feeding a cabin

It wasn't hot water that was a problem on one cruise we were on, it was cold water. The tap water was warm enough to shower with the dial set to full cold.

Our last two Princess cruises were like that.

"there's no bacon".

That's not a crazy complaint; that's a tragedy. We were on a cruise once where they were out of bacon for two days. Mutiny on the high seas was only narrowly avoided by restocking at one of the ports. Close call.

On our NCL Gem New England Cruise a year ago we headed to O'Sheehan's for our first lunch after boarding. A "lady" came in and ordered the chicken pot pie, the same as what we ordered. She became incensed that it wasn't ready seconds after sitting down. The server explained that they were coming out of the oven and would be served soon. This lady wanted to speak to the Head Chef she ranted and yelled that the service was not satisfactory, they should have anticipated her coming and need to be served. Sad to say watching this whole show was better than reality TV.

But this lady was standing near trays of English bacon, American bacon and Canadian Bacon.

I was on a cruise and had my cruise critic door sign up. A woman called my room and left me a message that when I wrote my review that I should talk about the movies that were on the ship in the little theater. they were too loud, they were too violent,PG or R rated and she didn't like him. I called her back and told her about cruise credit was all about.

As someone who works in the travel industry, I am often on the front line when people go berserk for the tiniest thing.

I can write a book about this, but I'll stick to the cruise related ones:

- In the show theater, there was a couple complaining that they didn't like the front row seats because sometimes they ask folks on stage to help the show. But the seats anywhere after row 5 or so had a "terrible" view, so they didn't like those either

- On my last cruise in January, I was waiting at the front desk to sign up for a behind the scenes tour while the lady next to me was loudly complaining she lost too much money on the blackjack table that afternoon.

- If you're going on a trip to the Caribbean, you'd think you'd be happy to soak up some sun, especially if you're coming from a place that has harsh winters. Not this couple I met a few years back. They kept complaining about how hot it was and the sun was unbearable (it was February and not too hot for the rest of us). Of course, they were one of those people you keep running into along the entire cruise. I really don't know what they expected from the Caribbean...

- On my first cruise I ran into a woman that was giving the Front Desk employees a lecture about every port that we visited. I had to pass the front desk on my way to our cabin and I saw her there after 4 of the 5 ports we visited. After the last port, we were hanging out in the atrium when she came onboard. The first thing she did was go full speed ahead to the Front Desk. You could literally see the staff that spotted her, ducking away behind the counter or quickly grabbing something so it appeared they were busy. You could think she was trying to have a friendly chat with some of the crew, but no no. She taught them all about the port, which sites there are to see, the entire history of the island, etc. This took a good 10-15 minutes and after that, she gave a full session about the weather. After she left, you could see the relief on everyone behind the Front Desk, including the Guest Service Manager. I am still wondering to this day, 5 years later, what on earth she was trying to accomplish.

We were told by a newbie in case we didn't know there was a button on the toilet so we didn't have to call Customer Services every time we needed to flush.

Funny ... but they didn't know and we trying to pass it along to others.

OMG. That reminds me of a first time cruiser who kept telling all of us "seasoned" cruises all of her tips to having a nice cruise. Good Grief!

On day 3 at lunch a lady at our table remarked that she was really enjoying cruising, but that it was a shame that you could only take a cold shower onboard. I asked her if she had tried pushing in the red button and turning the little knob on the shower control valve to increase the temperature. She looked puzzled and apparently, she tried it because when I saw her in a hallway the next day she told me the little red button worked "like a charm."

On a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale many years ago, several of us were walking up the stairs to the muster drill. A group in front of us was speaking Spanish. The lady behind me loudly proclaimed, "When you are in the United States, you should be speaking English." As it so happened, she was lined up next to us on the deck awaiting the start of the muster drill. I asked her if it was her first cruise and she said yes, but that she had another cruise booked to the Baltic capitals in the fall. I asked her if she had been studying all of the Scandinavian languages and she had no clue!

That lady must have found her time in Florida really challenging then.

It seems that Spanish is more widely used than English in Fort Lauderdale and Miami....

This was so good we featured it on our show tonight ( With credit to the OP of course )

Some people just don't stop and think about the consequences of complaining for complaining's sake.

On one cruise I saw a man going completely ape calling the purser's desk staff every name in the book because one piece of his luggage was not yet delivered.

At only around 6:30.

When the cruise was beginning with an overnight at the embarkation port.

And due to major weather issues plenty of people were still arriving at that hour due to flight delays. So there certainly was lots of luggage still on the pier waiting to be delivered.

But don't try to fool this guy with logic. His voiced boomed throughout the atrium with language that would make a sailor blush. Finally a senior officer came out and asked him to step into his office. Which this guy refused to do.

I wish I would have stuck around to see if security was summoned. Because if they were this clown would almost certainly not have been escorted into a back office, but down the gangway and out. Getting chucked off for violating the passage contract or other ship's rules before initial sailaway happens a lot more than one hears about. If you can't be on your best behavior on day 1, they don't wanna know about day 2. And this was a 16 night cruise, and I don't remember seeing him later on.

I remember her/him. She had read CC and was giving advice to everyone on how to do this and that. What to do on the ship and on shore. Finally she admitted she had never set foot on a ship and was really looking forward to it.

We went to leave our stateroom one night and a man was outside the cabin next door screaming at the room steward. He was so mad he was shaking. I heard him say that not having the balcony divider open was ruining his cruise. I assumed he had family on the other side of him. Later that day when we were back in the stateroom, the steward knocked on our door and asked if we wanted the divder open between our balcony and the man next door. We explained we did not know the man. The steward said he was aware of that but that the man would not stop complaining so he thought he would ask. The man was traveling with just his wife, in the same stateroom.

OH my goodness. So you didn't want that yelling man looking into your windows from the opened up balcony, didn't wish to share your balcony space with him?

I was just talking to my cruisiing friend about this thread.

Her most memorable one was meeting a couple at a show and with it being their first cruise my friend and family asked how they were finding it.

The said they loved the ship and the food but really hated how low their cabin was (they booked it themselves) and how the father of the party was going to suggest the windows should opened (low deck OV cabin) as it was 'stuffy'. Apparently they moaned a lot about their cabin in general but loved the cruise.
