How early will a ship let you disembark at excursion ports.

Recommended Posts

Hi, hoping someone can help. I am sailing with Princess on the 13th May on a British Isle cruise. The ship docks on the first day of it's 2 day stay at Dublin at 5.30am. Does anyone with experience on Princess know how early they will let you disembark to do your own thing in Port. I am hoping to do an excursion with a company in Dublin but will need to be at their office very early.

As soon as the local officials clear the ship, you can disembark.

Most times it only takes about 1/2 hour for the ship to be cleared.

But seeing as your ship arrives at a very early time -- 5:30 AM, the officials may not arrive until between 6 - 7 AM.

You might get better answers if you ask your question on the Princess board as there will be people there who have done your cruise and can answer your question about Dublin.

I agree with both of the above posters ...... generally 30-60 minutes from the time the ship is secured to the pier. Occasionally, it will take a bit longer for reasons usually unknown.

If it's going to take much longer than an hour, there is sometimes an intercom announcement from the bridge or Passenger Services explaining the delay.

Caribbean Princess? I think that you should be let off the ship close to the published 5:30 arrival time, the ship should be tied up before them. The port schedule has the ship arriving at 4:30. http://www.dublinport.ie/information-centre/cruise-liners/ It is your second Ireland port, there should be no customs or immigration delays. I doubt that any announcement about debarkation will be made that early in the morning. Weather, mechanical, labor, and other issues can cause unexpected delays and a lot of 'shoulds' instead of 'wills' in this post.
