MGM perk - anyone experienced it yet?

The last post I could find was dated July and no info from anyone who might have used it. As Elite Plus can anyone advise the process of how to access and what value does it get you? Many thanks to anyone who can clarify and advise on their experience.

As for what MGM status gets you on Celebrity, I don't know. I can only comment on how it works the other way around.

When we were in Vegas in June we stayed at Bellagio (an MGM property) and inquired about "M Life" membership. A very helpful young lady at the M Life desk in the casino told us that since we were D+ on Royal, we would automatically be platinum M Life members if we enrolled (2nd highest tier of M Life). She verified our info and got us our M Life cards so my casino play could start earning points. Last week I booked a room for Feb at the Mirage (also an MGM property), and after signing in with my M Life login, I was quoted a lower rate for the room, so happy with the benefits thus far.

On a recent stay we were given an M life gold card for our Elite status. It gave us a room upgrade to the Penthouse floor at MGM signature towers Same type of room we had previously ordered but forgot at that time to ask for an upgrade so the receptionist put on on the Penthouse floor for an upgrade. Also we were also given vip seats at shows booked through the M life host. Putting us on the third row center stage at two shows. A real nice perk.

Thanks Meg

Your experience info is exactly what I was looking for. Did your room get upgraded? Did you book any shows and get discount, better selection of seats or other offers?

Our room did not get upgraded, because we were already checked in and into the 2nd day of our stay by the time we stopped by the M Life desk to get signed up. However, for the upcoming stay in Feb, I got a discounted rate as mentioned, and will ask at check-in about available upgrades. Also looking forward to hopefully using an M Life priority check-in line...sure could have used that on the June stay at Bellagio!

We did not book any shows or dinners, so I have no experience with discounts, selection etc. for that sort of thing.

I may be wrong but I think you will find that if you don't play a fairly significant amount when you go to Las Vegas your membership will be downgraded after the first year so enjoy the benefits while you may. I've been an M-Life member for many years and the last few years it has become necessary to re-qualify for your membership level each year.

I don't see why. We are platinum M Life based on our status with Royal, not our playing history, so why would it be taken away because of our level of play (or lack thereof)? Plus, if one isn't given a tier level based on cruise status, then one moves up from tier to tier within M Life based on credits earned from room stays etc, NOT on casino play. Casino play instead earns you comp credits for rooms, meals etc.

Signed up for a M Life membership, I then contacted them with my Celebrity membership info and they upgraded me to Platinum status based on my Elite Plus status on Celebrity. I assume my status will be Platinum as long as Celebrity has this partnership agreement, but do acknowledge I may have to contact M Life annually to keep at this tier level.

That's my understanding as well.

Maybe you're right but if so I find it rather unfair to those who actually have to qualify for their status every year. It has no effect on me because I'm a Zenith member and also Blue Chip Club member.

Until I began studying all the ways to earn points or miles for travel I did not realize how easy it can be to obtain certain perks. For instance I am at the second highest level with a hotel chain just because I carry a certain type of credit card; there are other examples of this too. However it takes a lot of research to discover the ones that suit your lifestyle and take the effort to maintain them. I'm anxious to try out the M-Life perk program.

Anyone who thinks this is unfair...take a look at what M life members get from Celebrity. Way better than high level "earned" long time Celebrity cruisers.

Here's the story. If one is just going by money spent it would take spending $8,000. a year at MGM properties to get and retain Platinum membership.

Has anyone experienced any benefits on a cruise from this "benefit"?

We are Elite on Celebrity and I was going to sign up for MLife before our February cruise because I seem to remember we should get some benefits (free Specialty meal and no charge for getting cash from the casino).

I'm a gold Mlife member and I have used the benefits on Royal Caribbean but had not, until this thread been aware that they were available on Celebrity too.

(Thanks for that btw, just added my Mlife number to my March reservation)

On our RC cruise we received a free dinner, I don't remember which restaurant we used it at, drink certificates which we shared with friends as we had the drink package and the removal of the cash advance fee for the onboard account which was good for us as it was the last week of a three week European vacation and not paying ATM fees for anything we were paying in US $ was very nice. I'm sure there were other little items - I think a laynard for our sea passes but it's been a couple years now.

We were also assigned a casino host but honestly we earn our Mlife points by spending bucks in their hotels, restaurants and spa's. We love Las Vegas for the spectacle not the tables so the casino host wasn't really needed. She was however a lovely woman took our non gambling in stride and arranged not only our free dinner but another reservation we wanted at a tricky time. They do save some tables for the casino hosts apparently.

On the new gold list, since we booked the best level of b/b/b, the only item we'll really use is the free dinner but hey, $90 I don't have to spend to try out Qsine so I'm not complaining at all.

OH, I just noticed that you're getting your Mlife status from your Celebrity status. Please note this disclaimer from the Celebrity page:

Guest must have earned M life tier through spend with MGM Resorts International. Captain's Club members that earned M life tier through our partnership tier match are not eligible to receive onboard partnership benefits.

We are Elite Plus on X and Platinum M Life. We were on the Solstice in July and did not receive any info or welcome amenity in our cabin. I also did not get a free special restaurant dinner. I had to go to the casino and introduce myself. When I asked about the drink voucher`s they did not know of them. They put a sticker on our Blue Chip Card and we could get free drinks in the Casino only. No drink vouchers to be used anywhere. I think the proper info does not reach the Casino Host`s on the ships. We will be back on board the Solstice in 3 weeks and will see if anything has changed.
