Kiel

Don't know if you're interested in DiY but we went to Lubeck by train. It's an interesting and attractive town to visit. I guess there may be a ship's excursion if you don't want to do it independently. Don't know about a shuttle but if I am remembering correctly we walked from the berth to the rail station so I think the port must be pretty central.

Calling there on our Baltic cruise in June, using the collective wisdom of CC can some please tell me

Is there a shuttle bus ?

Suggested trips

thanks in advance

Are you on Arcadia during Kiel week?

If so we have decided not to do trips as there will be plenty going on.

If not , I really like Hamburg , been a couple of times , and Lubeck.

Don't know if there is a shuttle bus.

Yes we are our favourite ship and presume will be very crowded

Unfortunately my wife has problems walking so don't tend to do it yourself but were looking at the trip to Hamburg.

Yes I have been looking on the cruise personaliser and then in the post yesterday I received a glossy brochure "Your Holiday Information "which is basically all the tours in print. If your wife has walking problems , Hamburg by land and sea looks possible.

I think Hamburg is really underrated ,a green and very pleasant city. If you go into a website called" What's in Port" you can find how far away the ship will dock in relation to the centre. It doesn't look far so I'm not sure if there will be a shuttle bus.

Kiel has a HoHo bus which stops at about a dozen places. You also get lovely sea views. Stops at places like the Town Hall and the Shipping Museum. Might be a solution with your wife's mobility problems.
