The next ship shuffle.

Well Carnival is adding another dock in Galveston (per John Heald) so a ship will be sent there, there will be some sort of ship movement with the Horizon coming over in 2 years and it also depends on ship conditions like top speed and the speed needed for the route. The Liberty was just moved for that reason. Personally, I don't think there will be a mass movement. I think some of the older ships might phase out with all the new bigger ships that are being built.

They are going to put it where it will fill up. Galveston is stuck with the western itenerary so maybe the breeze comes to Florida or NOLA, but Carnival has the two mega ships being built in 2020 and 2022. I think the bigger ships will be positioned where they can do multiple iteneraries if they want to fill them up more consistently.

Well I noticed that there are no 4 and 5 day cruises from Galveston after December 2016.

What I really want is a decent ship in Puerto Rico. It is my favorite place to cruise from, but I'm not sailing on the Fascination.

I agree you would think the ports of call from San Juan there would be a ship with more balconies. We did it almost 2 years ago on the Liberty which I felt was the perfect size ship

I would not expect many changes before 2020 aside from the ongoing Liberty/Valor swap, which could be reversed if Liberty is repaired, and then the Splendor/Miracle swap in 2018.

If Horizon goes to Galveston, I could see a ship move from Galveston to Fort Lauderdale. Given that Florida's east coast is the industry's center stage, I would still expect Horizon to head to Fort Lauderdale.

In 2020, I would expect the new LNG ship to head to Miami. Vista gets moved to Port Canaveral and joins Magic in sailing year-round from there. Liberty takes the New York/Norfolk/Charleston routes from Sunshine, which are expanded to cover the entire year. Sunshine goes year-round in Baltimore, and then Pride moves its summer service to Boston while continuing to winter in Tampa.

In 2022, the second LNG ship gets home ported in Miami. Victory moves to Mobile, and then Fantasy moves to Galveston.

Totally agree, sailed out of San Juan 3 times on the Victory and Valor. Will not do that itinerary on a Fantasy Class ship.

I wouldn't evpect the Horizon in Galveston either but when it is finished i could see the Vista in Galveston with maybe the valor staying or the libery returning along with one other ship maybe the Sunshine, that would be nice.

I agree, they need a more updated ship than the Fascination sailing from San Juan. The itinerary is great, but I need a balcony!!!

Limited revenue on the San Juan ship since the majority of time is spend on shore... the extra bells and whistles are not utilized when people are ashore for 6 of 7 days and generally exhausted, low bar sales since people are ashore, casino revenue is low (plus San Juan residents which tend to fill up the cruise are not huge gamblers since it is legal on the island) and many choose the inside cabins to save money since they are hardly on the ship. Finally, the requirements on the ship engineering is low since it is always at low speed.... bottom line, don't expect a new shiny ship out of PR, you might need to look to a different cruise line that puts nice ships seasonally there if the ship is the driving factor....

You are so right about that! The last time we sailed out of San Juan the locals pretty much took over the ship!!! I've never seen anything like it and will NEVER sail out of San Juan. EVER!!!

After Splendor goes to China in 2019, Carnival will move a ship to Long Beach. I think they will base which ship on how well the Splendor sells. If it consistently sells out, I think they will move a Dream Class ship to Long Beach, if not, they will send a Conquest class.

I've been looking at cruising in Sept. 2018 for our 15th anniversary. I just cruised on the Ecstasy in September so we would like a newer ship next time. I can only find the Dream out of NOLA that interests me at this time. I'm just going to keep looking to see the availability of the Magic or the Breeze.

I would be very surprised if they don't end up cancelling those plans just like they did with the plans to move Miracle there and later to sail Spirit there for a season.

The spirit class ships are the largest ships which can sail from Baltimore. So you won't see the Sunshine sailing from Baltimore.

I just got off the Fascination a couple weeks ago and you are right, there were a lot of "locals" on board. But I'm confused by your statement. What exactly is wrong with that situation? Do you have something against Puerto Ricans?

For what its worth, I am bored tonight and have found Grand Cayman's cruise schedule and it has a few interesting bits on it.

---Carnival hasn't released the Breeze schedule for 2018 yet but she continues to call on the port every other Thursday for the most part through the year but she isn't on the schedule anywhere I see starting in January 2019.

---Vista is on the schedule for every other Wed calls through Oct 2018 which is consistent with her current 6 day runs but the she is listed as alternating Wed and Thur calls every week from October 2018 until April 2019 which makes me wonder if the Thur calls under her name are actually just a place holder for Horizon???

---Sunshine starts making every other Tuesday calls beginning Oct 2018 through all of 2019 so if that sticks she definitely won't be continuing her east coast shuffling of home ports

I don't see victory going to mobile. Maybe charleston but not mobile. Could be they send ecstasy to mobile and victory to charleston. I've always maid o thought the sunshine going there was a test to see if they could make a profit with a larger ship in charleston
