For anyone off to France, please be aware that there is a taxi strike in Paris, Lyon and a list of other cities.

Also, there was a beheading in the outskirts of Lyon (where we are headed one week from today) so I anticipate additional security measures will be in place.

Just an FYI.

Taxi strikes in France are very common. Maybe someone should post on a day when there are no strikes.....

LOL, very true!

We are taking the train and will walk once in Lyon or take public transport.

Now the beheading is a bit worrisome.

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said Tuesday UberPOP is 'absolutely illegal'. Paris prosecutors have promised to step up their efforts to crack down on the service.

UberPOP has been banned in France since January, with drivers risking up to a year in prison and a €15,000($16,800) fine.

A spokesman for Uber told MailOnline: 'Uber firmly condemns the recent acts of violence against Uber partners and their cars, perpetrated today in Paris and in other French cities; whatever the anger, violence is never acceptable.

'Uber wishes to underline the fact that no French court of justice has declared uberPOP illegal.'

STRANDED FOR HOURS AND CHARGED 150 EUROS FOR A LIFT: CHAOS AT CHARLES DE GAULLE

Amid the chaos at Charles de Gaulle airport this morning, commuters have described being stuck in hours long queues and motorbike drivers charging extortionate amounts to ferry passengers out of the area.

Caterina Serenelli told MailOnline she landed at 11.30am this morning but did not reach the city centre until four hours later.

She said: '[There were] No buses or cabs from the airport. The French police blocked the entrance to the airport train station and we all had to wait for at least an hour before we could board a train to Paris.

'There were numerous people walking on the free way with their suitcases trying to get a ride from someone. There were also people offering rides to Paris on their motorcycles but they charged 150 euros.'
