BEWARE. Azamara may change your cabin without approval or notification

BEWARE Azamara may switch your room without telling you.

We are currently on the Journey. We booked a Club Owners Suite on deck 7 over 15 months ago. At that time we had our choice of 5 remaining suites on decks 6, 7, and 8. We knew we didn't want 8 because they are right under the Windows back deck and knew there would be chair scraping noise. So we choose 7119.

I did not notice until we had checked in on board that they had switched us to 8088. They have no explanation yet for why this was done. We are not happy with this situation. When you pay over $18,000 for a cruise you expect to get what you booked. Yes we got the same class cabin and it is a very nice cabin. But why should we have to endure the noise above when we planned ahead and booked the room we wanted.

This is our first time on Azamara. We have never had this happen on any other cruise line. Once on Celebrity they asked us if we would consider moving rooms but we choose not to and were not forced to do so.

We really like the ship and what Azamara has to offer but not sure if we would book with them again if they don't compensate us in some way for this issue.

I would be upset too about this; at the very least if Azamara considered this an upgrade then they should have had the courtesy to ask if you would like to accept this cabin. We are booked on deck 7 for our next cruise, although it is only a V2 we got our TA to put a note on the booking advising 'no upgrades thankyou' as we would be concerned if we were given one of the less attractive locations on deck 8 or a very forward cabin where we would feel the ship movement.

The way they are handling this situation is poor too, any satisfactory result and please let us know!

I would ask the Hotel Director about it. I wouldn't be happy with that switch either. Let us know how you get on.

There is no way this could have happened had your travel agent not said YES to the change. If, however, you booked directly you should have told them to begin with no upgrades....which of course this move was actually not. Our TA who is an Azamara specialist said they always ask him before any moves are made. Sorry you had this experience.

My booking notes even say do not move me without checking first. i was asked on one cruise if i wanted the suite and i turned it down due to location of deck 8.. it is very important that it is in writing not to move you.

I checked with my TA yesterday to find out the final payment date for our upcoming cruise and found that the carefully chosen 7th deck mid ship veranda had been changed without warning to 7009 at the front of the ship!

No reply back from the TA yet but wondering if anyone is familiar with this room and if I should be concerned enough to change it.

Did they downgrade you? 7009 is a V3 whilst the midship deck seven cabins are V2s. Or was it a guarantee cabin? Unless you are really prone to motion sickness and it is a rocky cruise 7009 is a nice spot. Very quiet. I've been in one of the inside cabins, 7002 near it and liked the location.

Unfortunately this is not necessarily the case. It happened to us and our TA was not told, neither were we asked if we wanted the move (we didn't). When I asked on boarding I was told that the change had been made just a few days before we boarded so perhaps there were time constraints in letting us know, but it was still not appreciated. We now always have a note on our booking saying that we do not want any upgrades.

I do think it is silly of any cruise line to change cabins without getting consent. While many people will be thrilled with an "upgrade", there are just as many that won't. Since none of the cruise lines know why people choose the cabins they do - is it for noise related issues, size of cabin, closeness to stairs or elevators, mobility issues, motion sickness etc - to make these changes arbitrarily is surely asking to have upset guests. I would have thought it would be easy to have a question asked at the time of booking - "are you prepared to have an upgrade at our discretion", yes or no.

Must admit I would never have thought of putting a "do not move without contact" note on a booking for a CW suite as there is no other upgrade available to move to. If you have a favourite cabin that you might get a technical upgrade then yes, but in the OP's case wouldn't cross my mind. It would be interesting to know at what stage the move happened ie did they have luggage labels for 7119 and turned up on the ship to be told they were now in 8088?

I might him for a large suite as i would want aft not froward. .but not all can get a big suite so in general that a good rule to follow. as we know one couple only want aft deck 7 not 6.. they could get moved- one never knows.

Out of the blue my TA called to tell me that I had been upgraded from an outside to a balcony on deck 8. My immediate reply was "shouldn't they have asked first?" There was no way that I wanted to be where they placed me. I told my travel agent to find another cabin. The long and short of it is that they had already sold my outside cabin. I found another available cabin on their website and told my agent to make it happen. Azamara...Please do not ASSUME anything! On top of that I spent too much time yesterday trying to find out about my transfer from the airport in Istanbul to the ship. I was put on hold 3 times to find the answer. The call center in Guatamala is an embarrassment to the cruise line!!!! I never got an accurate answer.

Last November, we booked a veranda cabin on deck 8 and had chosen the cabin ourselves. About a month before the cruise, I was checking my booking and was pleasantly surprised to see that we were upgraded to a suite on deck 8. I checked the new cabin for comments on cabin spread sheet, and there were no noise complaints so I was happy with our good fortune.

Well, I was always quite content in my balcony cabin, but that suite, with the extra space, larger bathroom and shower, and jumbo shrimp cocktail served every afternoon, specialty restaurants included, and stateroom bar setup, and afternoon tea won me over. I am now spoiled.:)

I was one of the lucky ones and benefited from my free upgrade. If I was switched to a cabin with noise , or other, issues, I would not be happy either. I just wanted to share that not all unsolicited cabin changes are undesirable.

But this does seem to be a common practice, and I was not notified either.

Our two cabins are carefully selected Midship balconies on deck 7. We all suffer from motion sickness and moved from VX balconies to midship due to worries about motion.

How do you check your cabin is the same one you have booked? I can't find anywhere on my Azamara which shows details of my reservation. It has never occurred to me that Azamara would move any of us without consultation.

Thank you

This is a link I saved a while ago. Save it in your bookmarks.

https://secure.azamaraclubcruises.com/dc/myAccount/customizeCruise.do?cS=SIDENAV

What you need to do to view all of your cabin details is log in and it will bring up the list of cruises you have booked as before. Leave that page open and then open another tab and click on the saved bookmark again and it should bring up the same page, but also include a "select" tab so you can view all of the details:

Many thanks, Phil.

IT strikes again. Because I can now poke around in my reservation, I can look to see excursions for our b2b2b next year. The only problem is that the same itinerary pops up on all three. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and assume it is because it is more than a year out but I may be being generous and they just messed up (again).

Bob, I have had this issue too. The only way I found to get round it is to look at one reservation, log out and then log back in and look at the next, then log out and back in again and the next and so on. As soon as you directly jump from one cruise to another under the same log in it repeats the itinerary.

I consider myself to be fairly computer savvy but I can not pull up my cabin #. I have logged on with my regular computer to "my account" and can pull up my reservation. Is it possible because I booked thru a TA I don't see my cabin??

Guess I'm missing how to do the double window???

Me too I can find the reservation and itinerary but can't find our cabin. This is very frustrating especially with regards to this thread and room changes.

Any help would be appreciated.
