Beach in Ensenada?

My wife and I just booked our 3 day cruise to Ensenada for us and our 5 girls. It's our first cruise and our first "out of country" experience. My wife is unsure about getting off the boat in Ensenada. She is worried about what the experience will be like. We were wondering if there is a beach near where the boat docks that we can take our girls to for the day in lieu of going into town. Anyone got any info? Thanks in advance.

There is no beach near the port. I am not sure if there is an excursion that could take you to one but if this is your first experience out of the country you might want to stay with a cruise line excursion. We haven't done the Bufador Blow Hole but have heard it is a cool excursion. There are also some that visit a resort. We have walked around Ensenada with our girls but we have traveled quite a bit and have no issues with the street vendors or mapping where we want to head to.

Been to Ensenada many times.

Easy to walk around. The tourist area is almost always in sight of the ship. Get the ship's shopping map. It shows the tourist area.

How old are your kids? The museum just opened up. Located at the end of the dock area and the highway. Has some history of the area and an earthquake shake demonstrator. Very inexpensive. We label it as a '30 minute museum'.

They just redid the Malecon. There's now a (black) bridge going directly over there. End up under the Big Flag and next to Big Head Plaza. Across the highway and up one block is the main tourist street.

El Haciendo Del Charo is good for first timers to Ensenada. It's the restaurant with the chickens rotisserie-ing in the window. We get the 1/2 chicken and (lousy) fries with hand made tortillas. The molé (chocolate, chili, nut sauce) is very good.

Never had an issue with water or ice in any restaurant in Ensenada.

Use trip advisor and google maps for more info. I like doing a virtual tour with google maps before we go anywhere new.

Vendors will take American.

Ignore any beggars. It's gotten better over the years but a few still linger around.

All bathroom paper goes into the trash.

There's a nice brand-new boardwalk with free wifi and fountain shows right next to where the ship docks now that's quite lovely

Someone mentioned La Bufadora which they call the "blow hole" but is actually just some rocks that ocean water crashes against in an odd way to shoot really high up. It's not a bad excursions, just don't expect Old Faithful

Just back from Ensenada. La Bufadora was high about every fifth/tenth wave.

Passed by Playa Hermosa. About 15 minutes south of the port by taxi. Has palapas on the beach. Didn't see any restrooms when passing by. Nor saw any rentals. Restaurants across the highway.

Sanitation in Mexico is different than the US. Never know what's coming off the land.
