Addo Elephant National Park

The cruise line's tour to this park is pricey (no surprise), but none of the tour books mention any alternative other than driving to the park. Does anyone know if there are tours to Addo from Port Elizabeth?

We have a private tour with Alan Tours booked out of port Elizabeth for this December. Reviews are very positive on trip advisor and they are very responsive with emails. More reasonable in cost than ship tours I would imagine.

Appreciate this suggestion for Port Elizabeth. Will be there in early Feb. 2016. Have written to Alan Tours and will be getting added info back from them shortly.

We depart Feb. 2, 2016, from Cape Town, South Africa, and also do stop at Maputo/Mozambique, two days at Richards Bay and then Durban and East London before returning Feb. 12 to Cape Town. Any other good suggestion, tips, ideas, etc.?

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Terry

These ports are many that we are going to but we are on a Regent cruise that has excursions that are included. The Addo tour is one that Regent has a premium $ added so we decided to do it privately for less money. I believe Oceania has a cruise leaving Cape Town same day as ours (Nov 24) that is very similar. Perhaps by going to that roll call you may find some good suggestions for private tours.

Enjoy your cruise.

We will be there in Dec.

Check out comments in Lonely Planet Guide.

It's not a huge park but the package with Addo seems a good combination.

Our original itinerary had us stopping in Pt E then Richards Bay so we had planned to do the overnight at Schotia and catch up with the ship in RB - unfortunately that cruise was cancelled so now we are visiting Schotia post replacement cruise.

Hi, did you do this tour? How was it? We're considering booking this for our cruise next year.

Any info would be appreciated.

We sailed on Oceania Nautica last December and visited Addo Elephant park. We booked a small group privately with Mosaic tourism. Excellent company to deal with and an excellent tour. I'd highly recommend using them.

When we retuned back to the ship, those that booked the Oceania ships tour were extremely disappointed as they paid more than two times what we paid pp and only saw a couple of elephants. They were in a huge coach which was unable to go into many areas and had very poor visibility through the windows.
