Flight Time out of Heathrow

We're on an Oceania cruise next July. Ship arrives in Southampton at 6:00am. Does a 12:15 flight out of Heathrow give us ample time to get to the airport and relax. Would very much prefer a stress free trip home. Next option is 4:00pm.

Be very wary of "ship's arrival times" - most ships arrive around 5am, while passengers are still in the land of nod, but unassisted (schlepp your own bags from your cabin) disembarkation doesn't usually start til around 7am, with the first tranche of assisted disembarkation around 7.30.

I'm very tempted to say take the later flight - you do at least have the option of a later same-day flight, and no sleepless nights worrying about a tight connection..

But a 12.15 flight might be possible.

What date - more importantly, what day-of-the-week - do you disembark?

And how are you with unassisted disembarkation?

Personally, I would always prefer to fly out with an evening flight or at least a late afternoon one if not the next day.

Take the 4pm flight, too narrow a window for a 12.30pm flight. From my experience at Southampton, even 'walk offs with their own baggage' don't get off until at least 0730, then you have travel time to LHR, 1.5 hrs minimum, not allowing for traffic delays. Plus as has been said, the ship might be late coming in. LHR is busy, you need a 3 hr check in window these days with enhanced security etc.:( All a bit tight.

When we fly out of LHR next year post cruise, we have an 8pm flight on Cathay,to Sydney via HK, so have a long wait at LHR with a big window and at least flying business class we can linger in the lounge, that is what you pay for.:halo:
