Allure of seas August 13, 2017; new RCI changes since last year currently on board .

1. All parties must now order drink package if in same cabin and if one person orders it.

2. We had 5:30 early dinner. If your in a suite RCI changes you to MTD and encourages you to eat every night in coastal kitchen, or do MTD.

We wanted to meet new families and finally got someone to give us 5:30 dinner.

Any questions.

Post here

I will check.

With regards to point #1. That is a trial taking place for 7 sailings on the Harmony starting in September.

With regards to point #2. That has not been my experience. I was able to get late seating without any issues. The maitre d' did suggest we eat in CK but we are going to agree to disagree.

Interesting about being encouraged to eat in CK- perhaps because it was so early? We were on the Allure 3 weeks ago, and CK was always busy. We like eating later, so perhaps that was it? Also Star Class, so we had already booked all the specialty restaurants anyway. Regardless, we found CK to be far below par compared to when we sailed in Nov 2016- totally night and day. Spoke to the appropriate personnel about this- they claimed different chef. We were def disappointed since we really loved it in November.

How come people can't just believe you anymore?

Exactly, no reason to doubt someone posting live from the ship.

I wonder if this could be the new norm for the drink packages, order through the cruise planner and can order for one person, order on the ship and you have to buy for all in the cabin.

Not saying I don't believe the person, just saying I'd like to see the documentation explaining this change in policy. Say I board next week with just me pre-purchasing the premium drink package, which is the current policy, and we get aboard Royal Caribbean says my wife now has to buy the drink package because I purchased it 6-months ago. I'm supposed to pay $400 more after we board because they decided to spring this on us last second? I'd just like to see the documentation on how this is being addressed.... thank you.

I doubt you'll find that kind of detail on any shipboard documents. As others have said it might just apply to those purchasing onboard. Ships can pretty much do whatever they want lately.

I am going on Allure in November. I have My Time Dining and am in a Grand Suite. I believe you just show them your suite card to eat whenever you want. Has this changed? Not a big Coastal Kitchen fan.

She said that she got her reservations changed back to early traditional seating.

Are you saying that you want MTD? According to Sue, they WANT you to take MTD.

Or they could give you the choice:

1. Buy another package for the other passenger in your cabin.

2. Get a refund on your package.

Evening

As RADIO would say casino very friendly.

Before I watch the news

Talked with concierge.

Mechanical fix ON The propeller was an easy fix. Sailing full speed ahead with no issues.

Yes we were changed back to 5:30 seating after requesting it. We told them we booked this cruise one year ago and that is what we want. We got it with the nicest couple.

Ok good night.

Thanks for taking the time from your cruise to update us, Sue!

I'm going on the Allure in 3 months and can still order a drink package for just one person...

I'm going to be on the same ship the OP is on, Anthem in 3 weeks. Not only can 1 get the drink package, but they still offer the drink/VOOM combination too.

Good morning.

So looking over cruise compass I noticed one thing different than last August

In regards to sea days at pool---

" .......pool loungers are on first come first serve basis......."

Hmmmm

Going down after meet and mingle to see if old signs are up about I filled saved chairs.

Ltr

That would make the most sense. It's not exactly ethical business practices to tell passengers they can pre-buy one drink package, then once on-board tell them that have to buy two.

I'm in that exact same boat (pun intended). We board next week, Aug. 20, and I have pre-purchased my drink package (only about 3 weeks ago, I procrastinated). My wife, who doesn't drink much, elected not to buy one, and there were no issues with that. I, too, would be disappointed to find a last second change.
