How far do you travel

Longest travel so far was Chicago,IL to Auckland, NZ. I don't remember how long that was but I do remember that from 6:00 a.m. out of bed in Sydney to 10:00 p.m. into bed in Chicago we were something like 32 hours without being horizontal. That was brutal. Trip was complicated by unscheduled 4 hr. layover in Auckland and 4 hrs between planes at LAX. Of course, customs at ORD is such a treat too. Next time, we'll overnight at LAX.

Two words - Global Entry :-) 90 seconds for ORD customs plus you get pre-check thrown in

Too many places to mention on all 7 continents. Cruises have started from Australia, Dubai, Galápagos, Japan, Hong Kong, Civitavecchia Italy, Chile, Argentina, Norway, and Egypt to name a few.

+1. GE is a great benefit if you fly outside of the US. We've used it three times since we enrolled a year ago and the first time we used it was skipping past probably 700 people waiting in the regular lanes. After an 11 hour flight not waiting in just that one long line was worth the fee and it continues to be one of our best traveling decisions. The fact they are now recognizing GE at some, if not all, of the cruise terminals in Ft Lauderdale and maybe other ports makes it even better.

It even works for Australia and New Zealand to enter the express lines.

We are doing mostly land based trips with cruises thrown in for a change. There will come a time when we may only want to do, or may only be able to do cruises. That will be for later.

We both have long travel bucket lists that require land travel and long flights. We do not want to end up in a nursing home in 20 years, maybe sooner, wishing that we had taken those trips instead of leaving more money for our children. So we travel twice a year, two-three months at a time. May even store the lot and do 8-12 months again.
