Why is Disney so much more per day?

But it is not fact, just opinion and subjective.

Have I not provided price and numbers to support my stance?

Posit: DCL premium is unjustifiable from the numbers perspective

Fact: $6029 vs. $2579 same itinerary/dates/room type/# of people, etc.

As some people don't feel they don't want to pay for the magic of DCL cruise does not mean that the cruise is not worth the price. Quite frankly the fact that the vessel are usually full or close to full is proof the cruises are indeed worth the price.

I don't understand why fans of DCL are mocked. If anyone does not want to spend the money on a DCL cruise, fine....your free not to, I respect your feelings and opinion as is seems does most posters here. But insulting and mocking and throwing a few comparisons out are meaningless, when you count in there are thousands of cruises, vessels and cabin classes to compare. Not to mention all the lines have specials and discounts.

As it has been demonstrated over the years, DCL as does all lines charge what the market will bear. Other lines charge what they can charge and DO. The Disney cruises are special and filled will Disney magic and Pixie dust that other lines don't provide. Passengers love it and so do the kids....... Other lines provide their cruises and charge what they can. We all know if the other lines could charge more and still book the vessel they would in a second.

The bottom line is simple...if anyone doesn't feel DCL is worth the price.........your free not to cruise them.

Well said. We most likely won't sail them unless we are bringing children along, but that doesn't mean we think it is too expensive. Instead we've found a preference for smaller, more intimate ships. But unlike most other large ships, I wouldn't say "no way" to cruising Disney again if the circumstances warranted doing so. I feel they offer a good quality to price ratio for the right consumer.

They aren't cheap, but then again we lost $8K taking a crappy cruise on Royal Caribbean. That was money and a week of our lives we'll never get back. I'd rather have spent the same amount on Disney and known I would have had a great time. Lesson learned.

That is your opinion, and obviously not fact otherwise the DCL ships would be empty though?

Would you mind listing the ships and dates you're referring to here?

To my grandchildren recently off the Disney Magic, it was "Priceless"! A Disney experience they will never forget and likely won't have an opportunity to repeat. But from grandma & grandpa's perspective we are thrilled we had an opportunity to treat our kids!

Why, because it's Disney and because they can :)

A good time can be had on many wonderful ships at sea. My 9 & 10 year old grandchildren start saving and doing any thing to earn money. They thought they could save their way to a Disney Cruise. So they opened a savings account at the local credit union, pool their pennies, nickels and dimes in that account. Every cent earned from chores and bottles collected. Initially they where too young to ask the important question, how much will that cruise cost?

When they finally asked, we did not have the heart to tell them the real cost. We encouraged them to keep up the good job. Each of these children knew that once their money went into the Disney Cruise Account it was no longer "mine" it belonged to their joint quest of a Dream.....

They watched the Disney promotional DVD so many times I had to order a replacement DVD.

Between the two grandchildren they earned $900 for dog walking, babysitting, extra chores, bottle collecting... They earned that cruise and Grandma and Grandpa are so very proud of their hard work.

They wanted a dream, a Disney Cruise and Pixie Dust can only be had on a Disney Ship, thank you Walt for your dreams!

Do a lot of adults sail on DCL without kids? With all the references to pixie dust, I never would have thought so.

Dmgdmd50, both my DH and I really love DCL, and we have sailed almost every trip without kids. Well, without small kids. ;) We've gone with our almost grown and grown kids numerous times. In fairness, we have both sailed RCCL as our only other lines we have ever sailed, and we did not sail at the same time or together. Both of us MUCH prefer DCL to RCCL.

Both DH and I travel a good deal. He travels constantly for his business. We are pretty um, discriminating on good service, etc. (yes, downright picky sometimes! LOL), and we think DCL does an outstanding job. And they provide some really wonderful spaces and opportunities for adults with the adults only pool and Cove Cafe, Palo & Remy for adults only dining, an adults-only beach on Castaway Cay that is fabulous, etc, etc.

What i think many folks that have never sailed w/DCL don't realize is that all that space that most cruise lines take up for casinos is spent on some truly outstanding kid clubs. And most kids LOVE going there. Kids programming starts in the morning around 9am and goes until midnight usually. If you avoid the family and Mickey pools, and we always do 2nd seating, as crazy as it sounds, you don't see the ship "teeming" with little kids.

We LOVE it! I am going with my grown DD#2 (and NO kids) on the Wonder to Hawaii this September and we are both beyond excited!!! DH and I are hoping to sail on the Fantasy in January together. Again, sans kids.

The number of adults without kids depends on the cruise. The longer the cruise, the more adult only cabins. First, there are people who have done DCL with kids and enjoyed it. Then there are kids who cruised as kids and are now adults. And there are adults who just love Disney. And the adults who have heard about excellent service, etc.

I DO wish that DCL would do a better job of keeping kids away from the adult pools/Cove Cafe area, but I fear that will never happen. They are pretty good about most other adult only areas. As above, if you avoid family and kid area, it isn't kid city.

Moki's Mommy, you make a very good point. I think it's very important that we as paying passengers let DCL know that we do want the Adults Only areas to be just that….for adults. I have no doubt that proactive folks like yourself and me likely do politely remind the CM's onboard, but I want to make a concerted effort to remember to notate this on my post-cruise surveys as well. I think putting it in writing is more impactful.

It always amazes me on the occasion I see someone on the boards here are disboards whining that their little darlings can't go into the adult areas.

That's great, Ducklite! I've only cruised with DCL 9 times and have really had very little trouble with kids in the Adult areas, but I do see it happen every cruise. As the mom of 3, I think it is important that kids be taught respect. (now who is going to teach the parents this??? LOL!) Whether the parents are teaching it or not, I always appreciate it when the CM's step in to correct this situation.

This will be our third, this coming January! The first one we took was our first Caribbean cruise. Our second was because, with the extended aft balcony guarantee AND the itinerary we liked better, it was cheaper than RCI's Oasis of the Seas (which we did the following year). Then we're going on one of the Star Wars ones this winter. It was more expensive, at this point, but still cheaper than, say, a junior suite, for one of the extended aft balconies.

However, my SIL asked me to pull together some pricing for a family trip next summer. Disney was, as she put it, the price of a car for her family of four. I think the Star Wars theme was added because those cruises hadn't been selling well.
