Apologies for misleading you all in my previous post, which was done late in the evening after a long day!!

The Reader Offer cruise is the "Maiden" sailing on the 20th April - 6705 on which Reader Offer appear to have taken a cabin allocation, how many is not known. It is interesting that SS feels the need to sell cabins on the maiden by this route; whatever happened to maiden voyages selling out the minute they were put on sale?!

Correcting my previous post this is not a charter to Reader Offer but this is merely one of SS's largest TAs, taking a cabin allocation to sell.

There has however, been a development, in the appearance of cruise 6706B. This starts at Civitavecchia on May 6th, which is at the end of the three day freebie for the WC passengers. This is a ten day voyage ending in Istanbul, i.e. the balance of cruise 6706, and is still available on the website as a 13 day cruise - which is for Venetian Society members only at the moment.

For the benefit for UK Jeff, the SS information supplied to Reader Offer Limited, refers to there being a casino on the Muse?!

Kindest regards

Master Echo

There has been no news on the Muse for some time. Any update lately?

  • 1 year later...

Looks like the Montreal to Fort Lauderdale voyage we have been booked on is just half a year away. We booked a classic cabin for 2 x $8950, or 2 x $8503 after Venetian discount with an agency, the cheapest we could find. We booked this voyage primarily to study the ship, which we had been watching for a long time, and for that reason, we would not change.

Recently, we have noticed an advertisement for Seabourn Quest, Montreal to Miami, October 22 to November 5 (also 14 days) basic suite for 2 x $4660, which is a lot cheaper than Silversea. Any comment from anyone?

Fare increases?

Meow, looks like your fare is now up to $11,565 (before V discount). Just a few days ago we booked a trip on Muse from Fort Lauderdale to Valparaiso and lowest fare is now up $450 per person. If I am correct (and please correct me if I am wrong), looks like the 10% early booking discount is now not worth so much.

When we booked it in November the £$ rate being used was still over $1.40 (lucky for us). It's now showing as $1.21 and there has been a fare increase. I asked recently about paying early to get the additional 10% and based on the new fare it would cost more!

Interesting. The Seabourn email promotion I received has that cruise offered at $4999 pp, for either an ocean view or veranda suite.

Paying double for the Muse over Seabourn Quest is a high premium just to study the ship. I'd go for SB in a heartbeat, especially since it has the Thomas Keller Grill and none of this nonsense of having to reserve all your dinners months in advance.

On the Silversea website, we found two voyage from Fort Lauderdale to Valparaiso for $10575 and $9405 respectively. Could there be a typo error in your posting?

The volatile exchange rate these days leads to large variations in fares!

That advertisement does not say whether it is a "verandah suite" or "vista suite" (with verandah or just a window). The Seabourn ships have both types of suites.:D

You surely have a point. However, in addition to our special desire to study the Muse, as you can see (even on this thread), many people still prefer the Muse, as it is getting full while the Seabourn is offering special sales!

Hi Meow --

I am referencing the 1/3/18 voyage, currently $9405.00 after 10% early booking. We paid $8955.00 just a few days ago -- no special deal, just what SS offered at the time. So I do believe fares have increased.

What an exciting time for luxury cruise travel. I just opened my email announcement from Silversea and rushed to Cruise Critic to check whether discussions and speculations have begun. With Regent Explorer launching in 2016, Seabourn Encore and the Silversea Muse being announced we are all in for a treat and I do believe a complete elevation of the ultra-luxury cruise experience. Personally I am very excited about the anticipated new build from Crystal Cruises to be launched in 2018.

Only for those who like the bigger ships I'm afraid, so no excitement from us. We find that even the smaller Seabourn ships at around 400 feel too big for us and are sad that all the lines except Windstar seem to be heading upwards. I can see that it is probably more cost effective for them but bigger does not necessarily equal better. Most of the reviews on the new (large) Seabourn Encore are not good at all. However each to his own - its a good thing that we are not all the same, there needs to be something for everyone.

Meow - We and a number of other cc.com'ers are also booked on the Montreal to FLL cruise. We will try for a meet and mingle so we can finally meet. There is a roll call already started for that cruise.

The excitement is building for us. The photos look great.

The Muse is a brand new ship so is attracting interest. Sb is offering sales on some of its itineraries, not all, and I'm sure SS is doing the same. But if it's worth paying double to you to examine the ship then you should absolutely do it.

Here is a recent quote from Silverseas that was posted on Seatrade web site today.

"For boomers, Generation X and millennials, the most consumed content on social media is blogs, followed by images and comments. But, unlike the younger groups, boomers also avidly consume reviews, so sites like Cruise Critic have gained importance for Silversea's target market, Muckermann said."

It looks like Silverseas is listening to our comments that we are posting. Muckermann was saying earlier in her comments that Silverseas was concentrating on the Boomer generation and not as much on the Millennials.

Here is today's Seatrade cruise news article that onetravelbug's Seatrade Silversea Marketing news quote is contained in

http://www.seatrade-cruise.com/news/news-headlines/why-social-media-is-zooming-up-in-silversea-s-marketing-strategy.html?utm_content=Why%20social%20media%20is%20zooming%20up%20in%20Silversea%27s%20marketing%20strategy&utm_source=Email&utm_medium=Seatrade%20Cruise%20News&utm_contact=21427410&utm_term=Newsletter_Seatrade%20Cruise%20Weekly%20News&utm_campaign=117325

p.s., SS's Chief Marketing Officer (Barbara Muckerman) or I should say her Marketing team sent out Marketing surveys to select Venetians recently, We rcvd ours today--spent about 10 minutes filling it out, just prior to finishing a pop up came up saying we have been selected for a 45 minute phone interview (they offer a $150 Amazon gift card) for participating.

The Muse fares have been moving steadily upward as the launch date has approached.
To put this increase in fares into perspective, all suite categories on our South American voyage this fall are now waitlisted with the exception of the most inexpensive suite category; Classic Veranda. Today's price for the Classic Veranda is $13,275/pp. That price is +44% higher than the Deluxe Veranda category (2 price classes higher than Classic) we booked in January, 2016.
