Clothing questions

We are taking the Silversea Whisper on its Aug 27th sailing from Stockholm to St. Petersburg and ending in Southhampton. We are wondering what is appropriate to wear to dinner on non-formal nights, and to La Terrazza.

Is there a daytime dress code? Are jeans and sneakers ok for daytime?

If it is raining, does the ship have umbrellas for passengers to take on excursions?

Thanks

If you forget to take the umbrella from your suite, there are umbrellas at the gangway. There are also bottles of water and beach towels (if necessary) at the gangway.

We took a similar sailing 3 years ago: beautiful weather until we reached the Channel and things got rough for 1 night. Anyway, if you are doing any of the cathedral tours, I recommend ladies keep a head scarf in their jacket pocket. There was one part of a cathedral in St. Petersburg where it was required and one place in Talin I would have felt better with it.

We did the same itinerary a few years ago, departing Aug. 28 from Stockholm, so same time of year. Definitely bring warm clothes...it was 37 degrees and windy in SPB, but it felt like 30 due to the humidity even with sunshine. You'll definitely need a hat, gloves and scarf. We wore fleeces under our light raincoats/windbreakers and it wasn't enough. And it is especially windy if you go to the Summer Palace, which is on the Gulf of Finland. [We live in the NE so we are used to cold weather.]

You'll also want to be outside if you go through the Kiel Canal, and while they have blankets around the pool, it can be chilly.

Happy to answer any questions.
