Can anyone tell me the smoking areas on the Crown? Sailing in March...thanks!

Tradewinds Bar, above pool. Port side, forward.

Churchills which is a little room/ within the casino. Cigars are allowed here and note it's really miserably smoky during nonsmoking nights in the casino.

Casino. Certain machines allow smoking. Formal nights are nonsmoking.

Promenade. Aft, one side - I think it's starboard but not sure.

What I want to know is on Crown, is there any smoking area above the aft pool area?

Also unsure if there's a smoking area within Skywalkers.

I am really disappointed that electronic cigarettes are not considered separate and allowed. There is no smoke, only water vapor. I am extremely allergic to cigarette smoke, and my husband smokes electronic cigarettes and they don't bother me in the least. I'm glad cigarette smoke is not allowed in a lot of places anymore, but I think applying the same policy to e-cigs (for the most part, with the exception of in staterooms) is faulty and is going to cause us great inconvenience on our cruise.

The E-Cig policy is also on the Princess website.

I just read their policy because my husband smokes e-cigs and we are sailing in a week. It is allowed in staterooms, but other than that all of the same rules apply as with cigarettes. And they are not allowed on balconies. I object to this policy - it is only water vapor not smoke, and it's really going to inconvenience us on this cruise. It's not the same as cigarettes and shouldn't be treated the same. I am extremely allergic to cigarette smoke but e-cigs don't bother me at all.

I just had a friend stay at my house on a visit who smokes e-cigs. You are right, the vapor did not bother me at all. What would be concerning to me on a cruise ship was the fact that he "burned a coil up", and another vaping device broke, so my objection to smokers is the FIRE HAZARD and I believe ALL smoking should be relegated to the smoking lounge! Sorry for your inconvenience.

e-cigs and vaping are not the same. I didn't have a problem with someone using an e-cig (although I thought it was a bad idea) but vaping emits huge clouds of crap and it's often scented. I freaking hate the stuff.

Then ban all lithium battery products to the smoking area as well. Unless your friend messed with the battery by trying to boost the power, an ecig is no different than a laptop. Of course there are idiots everywhere that put overpowered batteries in their ecigs as well as in laptops and other products.

Is it crazy I am excited about sailing the Royal knowing it has the best smoking area of the entire fleet?

Deck 17 aft with no drop in pool. Open sunny and beverage service! No dark corner for me for 10 glorious days.

Well I hope it hasn't changed since my last Royal cruise.

No. Last cruise I was on I was excited that Grand had a very nice aft seating area (covered, comfy furniture, service). My next cruise, while I'm excited about the ports and first transatlantic, not at all looking forward the the Spartan and sparse smoking areas.

Just came off it on the 3rd. It is the same as you hoped.

I do not smoke cigarettes...but do use what is called an e-cigarette...it is vapor. Are there places for me to be respectful of others with this...it is NOT smoke but need to have answer please.

In your cabin is fine and I've never been cautioned using it outside anywhere, just don't use it in crowds or in front of other passengers. In short I've never used the smoking area except the small area on the promenade deck. In fact it was a trip on the sea princess that got me into vaping full time due to lack of smoking areas. So don't walk around vaping all over the place in the day, just when there's no-one around and outdoors, no odor = no persecution. I always get quite a few older cruisers ask me about e-cigs on the princess cruises and I'm always willing to help them out.

e-cigs and vaping are not at all the same thing. I wouldn't suggest vaping in you cabin or most places onboard.

I have been a member of the Vaping community for over 5 years.

Not sure what you mean by this post Vaping and E cigs are exactly the same thing, e cigs give off vapor.

You can use your E cigs or if you prefer to call it Vape, in your cabin, it is allowed and in all the designated smoking areas.

Most actual e-cigs give off a small amount of vapor. The people I see vaping around town give off huge clouds of the stuff and it's often scented. That is what I meant when I said they are different.

It's just the amount of volts or watts you use that determine the "clouds" produced, essentially it's the same thing. They where actually selling them on the Sea Princess in 2014 though I had my own at the time.

What you term "E-Cigs" and "Vapes" are using the same liquid and the same heating device. As Credit 00 put it, the amount of vapor produced is directly proportional to the amount of watts being pushed through the heating element (watts being dependent on the ohm rating of the heating element and the amount of volts being pushed).

The devices that look like cigarettes are normally 3.7 volts and a 2 ohm element (6.5 - 7 watts). The big vapor producers are .1 to .5 ohms and 5 or more volts (125 watts).

Generally, the vapor averages .5% nicotine (although many people use liquid that has no nicotine). Most of the rest is the same thing that comes out of commercial fog machines.

(Edited by poster for confusing watts with ohms. The above is close enough to correct)

I posted the below on another thread and thought I would ask for feedback on this one. What do smokers (and non-smokers) think of my 'proposal'? -

I'm a smoker and would have no problem with completely smoke-free interiors. However, Princess would - smokers in the casino generate a lot of revenue. The solution has been proposed - enclose a smoking area in the casino and ventilate it properly. Churchill's Whisky Bar, ex-Cigar Bar (I assume to be 'PC'), is disgusting even to a lot of smokers... and one can smell it from 50' away as one approaches. Get rid of it.

Now, let's be fair to smokers -

There should be more than only two outside smoking areas. Most ships (perhaps all) now have only:

- Sun Deck, port fore (Tradewinds Bar). In this area, it is impossible to escape the aural assault of MUTS.

- Promenade Deck, starboard aft. This area has no seating (problematic for those who have trouble standing for any length of time) and can be closed for the entire duration of a tender port visit and during crew lifeboat drills.

For reasonable access, each ship should have four, outside smoking areas:

- fore & low,

- fore & high,

- aft & low,

- aft & high

at least two of which should have seating. As it stands now, smokers with mobility problems can be forced to travel the length of the ship... and then have to stand while having a smoke. Cigar and pipe smokers need an area with shelter and seating - it's idiotic to force the 'stinkiest' clear.png?emoji-wink-1685 smokers to smoke inside... as is now the case.

Therefore, they should bring back the smoking area on Lido Deck (or higher) port aft, and add a foreward smoking area (with seating) on Promenade Deck.

I was surprised to find on the Ruby 3 smoking areas outsides. The aft one was on deck 7 next to Club Fusion. The two forward ones were on decks 16 (next to a bar) and 17 (just forward of the aft end). Decks 7 and 17 had limited seating. There were more seats plus tables on deck 16.

When were you on the Ruby?

Last January, on the Diamond there was no 'high deck', aft smoking area. The only areas were: Promenade Deck (7) starboard aft, and Sun Deck (15) port fore. I was POed because I booked a room aft on Aloha thinking I could nip out the 'back door' by the Terrace Pool and up half a flight of steps to the smoking area aft on Lido Deck beside Outrigger Bar. It (the smoking area) didn't exist any more.
