Solstice Class Pools? Fresh or salt water?

Thank you. I'm assuming this is the same answer for all Solstice class ships? I'm specifically asking about the Silhouette.

All pools are chlorinated. In a fresh water pool chlorine is added as a chemical. In salt water pool chlorine is generated from the salt.

All of the pool water comes from the sea water -- so it is all salt water originally.

As I recall, in the S class, most of the salts are removed and the pools are similar to fresh water pools.

On the M class, the outdoor pool water would be better described as salt water. Also on those ships, there is a Thallasotherapy type pool, with minerals added to the water. This pool is in the Solarium.

This is from memory, so if I am wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me.

I can only speak to the thelsotherapy pool in the Solarium on the Summit. It is definitely salt water and it is VERY salty.

Hi going on my first celebrity cruise 30th of June to alaska on the celebrity Solstice - is there a solarium on board which is warm ? ie ok to sit/swim in on sea days ?

All pools on S-class ships are the equivalent of fresh water pools. All pools on M-class ships are salt water pools. The higher capacity to create drinkable water from sea water (desalination) on S-class ships allows them to also use "fresh" water in their pools.

We were told yesterday by the environmental officer on Solstice that the pool is fresh water.

Salt or fresh water... Still remember the destinct smell of chlorine when entering the solarium... how it wasn't from something they'd serve in the Aqua Spa Café :confused:

Solarium pools and hot tubs are swim suit killers...we bring old suits just for them...eats the material. Chlorine resistant fares slightly better
