Hi Dave .............. thanks a mil for the update on the sparkling wine availability on the basic drinks package. Interesting to hear about the kettles in the cabins - though I personally would have no use for it, I know that others will be glad to hear it.

Hope you & yours have a fabulous cruise! :D

We got off Preziosa yesterday after a 3 night cruise from Hamburg to Southampton.

The inclusive basic drinks package included two sparkly wines, one dry and one extra dry.

Kettles are in cabins with a small supply of tea, coffee etc. However plenty of teabags etc in the Buffet area - just pick up a few each time you are there.

Mini fridge in cabin with space to put bottles of water in etc. You could also empty the contents if needed more space and just put them back on last night. Cabin steward locked the mini bar/ fridge at 6pm on last night.

Toiletries in bathroom consisted of two dispensers : shampoo and body wash.

Thanks for the updates on Preziosa. One thing confuses me, do we not get our cruise cards at embarkation at Southampton - I read somewhere that we now have to go to the cabin to get them and "pair" them with the credit card at a machine somewhere?

MSC introduced a new embarkation system last year whereby your cruisecards are now available in your cabin (though sometimes you're advised to go to one of the lounges to pick them up - that happened to us on Fantasia in February). It's to help speed up the embarkation process. The facility for registering credit cards at your own leisure on the first day has been in effect for a lot longer. There are a number of machines around the ship, primarily at Guest Services area, where you can do this. Again, for the purposes of quicker embarkation times.

Yes, you can lodge cash to your account and top up as you go.

I register a credit card and often add cash to the account during the cruise to reduce the credit card bill - if we haven't spent our cash budget in the ports, for example, or especially if I've won money in the casino and want to put it out of reach! :')

Brilliant - thanks for the quick reply. Does that mean the cabins will be ready when we embark? It's our first time on MSC, with other lines, often the cabins are not ready until several hours after embarkation.

On Quantum class (RCI) there is one card outside the cabin and the remaining cards inside the cabin. Cabins are not usually available until 1pm.

How do you make purchases (aka buy a drink!) if you do not have your room key card? On RCI you show your set sail pass (piece of paper). Is it the same system?

If you don't have your cruisecards you can just tell the wait staff what your cabin number is. If you have a drinks package included, the system will show it. If not, your account will be charged.

Thank you, LB ................. I'll hold you to that! ;p Sverigecruiser has already promised me a glass of champagne for similar reasons - we'll be on the same cruise in March 2019 so he's shnookered (as we'd say!).

Seriously, though, I learn so much from this forum and am glad to share my experiences and give a little back.

What aspects have impressed you more than Divina?

We'll be delighted if there is a kettle, do need a coffee first thing.

I wonder when they were introduced on Preziosa? The recent review of the ship by Sandra (plucasana) makes no mention of them. She was in YC. It's probably to do with the ship sailing from Southampton. Seems MSC have copped that the British like the facility of tea/coffee making available to them. They'll be available on Magnifica from Southampton next year.

My GF will be happy. We stayed in a budget hotel in Southampton earlier this year where they didn't have a kettle, and I've had it brought up regularly since.

@little britain ... I'm sure I remember your name from one of the roll call threads I was on years ago

I'd also like to know if there is a fridge / minibar in the room, as I am carrying insulin. Never thought about it.

disembarked yesterday in Southampton. We joined the ship in Hamburg and although our boarding cards said 13:45 we were on by noon with the quickest and most steamlined process Ive experienced. Rooms we.ren't ready until 2:30pm but we just showed the bar staff our booking confirmation to show that we had a drinks package (absolutely worth every penny). I had no problem with the sparkling wine, had both prosecco and asti. We didn't register a credit card and didn't have any problems making purchases, only bought photos and a internet but did have onboard credit

I recognise yours too!!! Just looked through your history and it seems we both did Harmony to Rotterdam and possibly Ovation from Southampton to Barcelona?

When are you on Preziosa?

A quick question to those onboard, according to Vessel Finder you are still in Zeebrugge at 0630 UTC this morning, I thought you should be in Amsterdam today. Just wondering if there is a problem ?

Don't worry just found out Amsterdam cancelled due to a bad weather forecast, that's a real shame as Amsterdam is a great place to visit.

Not had much chance for replies, change of plans, left 2 hours late, then found we were staying in Zeebrugge for 2 days so no trip to Amsterdam due to the weather so we are told, heavy rain here today so no free trip to Brugge.

Will try answer questions as soon as possible.

There is also a Sweet sparkly wine Borgomolino.
