Hi.

A few questions before we embarque in 2 weeks. Couldn't pre book for dinner as no availability for 4 if us together. Are there alternatives on board?

How many "dressy" nights are there ?

You can make reservations once you've boarded or just queue up for dinner.

There are no mandatory dress up nights, but I think there will be two opportunities to do so.

Just want to caution you that if you queue up during peak times..... the wait is substantially more than a "couple minutes" (Manhattan at 6:30p was 45 minutes on average)

Once on board, you may make reservations either visiting the dinner reservation desk or calling the reservation number. If you have set plans for a night (a show or casino, etc) then I would definitely make them.

What!!! I have been on 9 NCL cruises and never queued up more than 10 minutes.

Maybe you go at a busier time than me? I'm normally quite an early eater, probably around 6-7. Can't believe people queue for 45 minutes... I would just give up :')

I agree... 45 minutes is way beyond my threshold....

Just got off the Breakaway 3 weeks ago and had 5:30p reservations in Manhattan for four of our dinners and each time we were leaving around 6:30pm the wait was ranging from 30 minutes to 90 minutes (Taste and Savor were much busier). We were on a non-holiday \ non-school break week. Just passing along my experience.

I'm on the same cruise and wondering how I handle my "party" of 16 for dinner (parents and their friends). I guess DW and I will need to split off from them. I am sooooo sad (not really).

Thank you. I like dressing up, never get the opportunity, so we wont stand out if we do dress up?

Couldnt get seats booked together on line, will wait until arrive.

Just fyi, I answered the questions you asked, in the thread that I started.

People have different ideas of what dressing up means. I myself prefer to not be too formal, but like to dress for how we would dine out on a Saturday night. For us, that would be a button down shirt and dress slacks for my husband and slacks and dressy blouse/sweater for me. It takes no effort to dress like this, but I see people going into dinner dressed the way I'd go shopping on a Saturday afternoon. Many folks feel this is their vacation and they don't want to be bothered with clothing choices, and that's fine and up to them. But often 'casual' can translate into sloppy. As I said, people have different thoughts on this. Do whatever makes YOU comfortable.

Another thought-if you've had no luck with reservations online perhaps try calling NCL and talking to someone directly. There has to be a number for folks outside the USA...

Totally agree. We like to dress for most dinners, Button down for DH, and dress for me, sometimes I will bring something little fancier for Norwegian's night out (dress up or not), but on the nights we don't feel like dressing up, we will still dress neatly with polo for DH and still probably plain sundress type dress for me (I like dresses), but never sloppy looking, and if we don't feel like changing at all, then we go to the buffet( so usually we are dressed neatly at worse).

We have seen people dressed in tuxs, so anything goes

We try not to be judgmental about others- its their vacation too, we do what makes us happy.

Dress however you like, and enjoy... that's the whole idea!

what are considered peak times on board?

regarding 7 that would be late for me..dont know how people eat later in real life. waiting from noon to 8 for a meal would have my ribs showing.

Me too!! For me earlier is better. The earlier the quieter too. I would say 7-9 is peak so before that I've never really had to wait...
