Just had a parcel arrive today from Seabourn announcing the new Member Level of Diamond Elite, we each receive a Seabourn Diamond Elite Jacket plus more benefits than we had as a Diamond Member:D.

Thank you Seabourn!!!

Very nice! How many days to reach that milestone? I can't seem to get past 249! LOL!

Actually it's 650 Club points.

 

Big jump from 250 to 650 Club points to go from Diamond to Diamond Elite. However, incremental benefits are underwhelming. Still, good extra benefits for those who are already at or close to that level, but not very aspirational for others...

 

Loyalty marketing programs are supposed to increase loyalty and accelerate spending from existing customers to add to the company's bottom line and justify the extra marketing expense. With this new level, I can see Seabourn spending more to those who already qualify at the higher level, but I wonder if many Diamonds are going to be enticed enough by the anemic additional benefits to increase their business and/or accelerate their sailing days for Seabourn...

We don't cruise with Seabourn in order to achieve greater levels of status. We cruise because we like it. The Diamond benefits we have are nice, especially the laundry and the internet. But we would not stop cruising if they were not there.

We are a cruise or two away from achieving the Elite status, and we are now on Sojourn enjoying the tremedous hospitality of the crew as well as the ambience

that stems from 2 terrific additions to Seabourn, now here since Monte Carlo 20 days ago, Captain Tim Roberts and Hotel Director Jason Gelineau. Having transited the Suez Canal yesterday, we have one sea day, to reach Aqaba. I can confidently state that the new teams of staff some on this board have commented on are seasoned enough to deliver great service!

 

Anyway, about the Elite status, I think it's a smart move to give those with 650+ points some additional perks. One that immediately caught my eye is the complimentary ship to/from shore destinations transfers (up to 50 miles). This will, of course, require lots of logistical attention by Seabourn, and so I would like to thank them well in advance of accessing it for this particular benefit.

Could not agree more. Capt Roberts and Jason are simply great. This is a young crew and service has improved greatly since Nov 3rd. Great time.

 

As to Elite status, I started too late. Doubtful we will ever get there, even with a dramatic increase is cruising the last 2 years. Just crossing 100 days this week! :D

Very pleased to hear that the service on Sojourn has improved over the past month or so - we knew it would happen, but it is not so great when you are on board before the new staff (many of them) have had much chance to learn the ropes and get used to all the things they need to know, like health and safety, hygiene, safety at sea etc. etc. as well as their actual jobs. I hope next autumn before the launch of Ovation the powers that be will take more time to introduce new staff and integrate them.

We have to order the jacket in the size you require so should have it in around 4 weeks. I have attached a picture of the men's the women's is the same but a little more shaped :)

We have ordered our jackets hoping they will arrive before the Encore Inaugural. Hope they are as nice as the ones we got on the Sojourn Inaugural.

We love Seabourn but will never be Diamond Elite. Just too many other choices (at sea as well as ashore) for us to get there. The marketing creativity of the loyalty clubs is amazing. Years ago we achieved plain old Diamond with Cunard in large part to lifetime transatlantic crossings to see the relatives in England. this "Diamond Elite" begs the question: What next?? Will marketing come up with Double Secret Elite???:D:D:D

We have ordered our jackets hoping they will arrive before the Encore Inaugural. Hope they are as nice as the ones we got on the Sojourn Inaugural.

I left it to Brian to order what size he wanted :D:D:D

 

I cannot see me wearing it on a cruise but thought it would make a decent dog walking jacket :), although judging by our recent experience on the Sojourn it could be worn to dinner in the main dining room:(

The "marketing creativity" is probably a function of how many people they have at or near a given level. On our recent cruise somewhere between 8% - 10% of the guests were Diamond and a similar number were Platinum. And those numbers are going to continue to grow. So Diamond is not a exclusive as perhaps some might wish.

 

As I said earlier, it is not the loyalty program which attracts us to Seabourn nice though some of the perks are. I have no doubt that, at some point in the future, we will hit this Diamond Elite always assuming that Seabourn continues to be our cruise line of choice. But we will not be choosing Seabourn because of the loyalty program.

I was just having a bit of fun. Thought Wripro would have jumped in by now. I agree with you we also don't sail due to "loyalty" programs. One of our favorite lines is SeaDream and they have none to speak of. And your point about the number of top level or near top level repeaters is accurate too. We took a quick getaway California Coastal on Princess and were overrun with a stampede of Black Card waving Elites. We had a suite so hid there lots of the time. Still a fun getaway but you do get what you pay for.:eek::D

At the other end of the spectrum there are those of us steadily working their way up from soil level to worm level :)

 

I think we get an extra roll of toilet paper in the cabin.....

 

At 60 days / 67 points we have some way to go on the ladder, 34 days on Encore will push us from Silver to Gold. The reality on Seabourn is that loyalty status, just as cabin type isn't as critical as it is on the mainstream lines.

 

Everyone gets recognition from the crew, there are plenty of spaces to relax onboard and of course drinks are inclusive. On Royal Caribbean our diamond plus status afforded us the opportunity to escape the madding crowd in specialist lounges and enjoy complimentary pre dinner drinks / canapés. There were also reserved loungers by the pool, all be it with no shade!

 

Even on our first Seabourn cruise we felt special. Some would say I'm "special" anyway !!

Complimentary Dry cleaning - I believe limits apply.

 

Embarkation / Disembarkation transfer up to 50 miles.

 

Upgraded welcome champagne in your suite.

 

Single supplement deals depending on suite level - I suspect some cruises may offer reduced single supplements anyway.
