Goodbye Island Escape

Recommended Posts

So the IE has set off on her last ever cruise for Thomson. By all accounts, they are having one BIG party all week.

It bet it will be a fantastic, although probably very emotional last cruise for all those onboard - there are many of her loyal fans on there right now! I am sure they will give her a good send off!!

sad to see the old ie go.... it was always a happy ship:cool: we loved it back in the (captains dance) island days when kids were small

they used to do a repositioning cruise to brasil in winter... regret not booking that while we had the chance:(

its a shame that they are not replacing her and continuing the island brand (spirit or maj would have been ideal candidates)

did notice a few long serving ie crew have transferred to dream (same agency now)

We also loved her....we had three wonderful cruises in the last five years......the big question must be where will Ross Roberts go next? Such a brilliant Cruise Director.

We did meet a few of the waiting staff on Celebration earlier in the year who were sad to leave IE but pleased they were meeting some ex passengers! :)

The Island Escape Farewell party :D

What a final week that was, probably one of the best cruises I have done in the last 10 years, the atmosphere was fantastic and we had over 200 Island Escape Face book Members on board with a full photo shhot on stage and yes indeed we did have an xmas party on board with all us facebooks with Xmas jumpers and hats. to much to type that went on all week, but the final night @ Barcalona ended with a fantastic firework display. no tears but a week full of excitement and enjoyment. a fitting farewell to an Old lady of the seas.

200 ie f/b members onboard! wow! (quite a party then) .... woe betide any hapless person onboard who just may have happened to mention (briefly in hushed tones) that they may have thought the old ie was maybe a little ..... ahem? .... old/not up to scratch? :p eh? :)

anyway.... at least thoms gave notice that the ship was going this time so that its loyal following could give it a good send off  .... unlike destiny which just disappeared one week to be replaced by the marmite ship ;)

seriously tho...shame to see it go I hope all those happy smiling crew are redeployed within thomsons (the cruise director was one of the best imo) definately the crew that made that ship the happiest ship, I wish them all the best and hope to see them again

I don't think any of the entertainment staff will move to the thomson ships as the escape ents staff was supplied by live business and peel have a 5 year contract with thomson cruises and also have got the contract for the discovery
