QM2 Grand Lobby to have blue carpet?

Finally something that actually looks Art Deco..I'm glad its not blue..the whole ship is turning this pale grey blue look ..replacing the warm colors from the original design..and was very nice contrast to the many cold overcast days on a TA....I was on the Jan 3 crossing and the casino staff spoke of how small it will become and it was a mistake. The single cabins should have been on a deck that was rebuilt for more singles and larger family type rooms that many lines have added

I agree that if cabins were to be added to QM2, they should have been added elsewhere. A different Carnival Corp ship would have been my first choice.

Personally, I find blood red ombre carpeting out of place on a QM2. On a ship that sails the ocean wide, I have found that the calming colors of sea and sky works best on the interior of the ship, but I like the sea so I'm drawn to blues, greens and violets.

I don't like the shape of the design. It's so stark and straight, at odds with the curved lines in the glass along the railing and the circular designs along the edge of the level above. It just doesn't "go" with the rest of the area.

I agree and would prefer it to be more elegant and "friendly".

Yes. I can do very well without slot machines etc., and the Grand Lobby should remain what it is supposed to be, which is "Grand".

I'm sure it will turn out alright on the night

One can never get the real feel of things from these computer images ;)

Often things look worse in person than in the computer-generated imaging. I will know for sure in October.

To my eye, the recent wavy stateroom carpeting looked less appealing than in the images.

I'm on in September, so might be able to get back to you with some feed back ..... if you may want to cancel. ;)

Wonderful news, I'm back on board in November :) :) :)

I guess it was supposed to look like waves. To me it looked like a bunch of eels swimming across the floor.

I'm sailing August 1st in a balcony on Deck 12 so it will be refurbished. I'll be writing a full review with photo documentary of the ship. I can't wait to experience all the changes and hopefully QM2 remans my favorite ship sailing today.

It will take more than the Grand Lobby carpeting to make me cancel. I can't help but think that anyone suffering from mal de mer would be wise to avoid looking at that carpeting. Everything else about the remastering pleases me.:)

I always thought the carpet in the champagne bar was the one most likely to induce mal de mer.

I certainly wouldn't cancel over a change in carpet. If you don't like the lobby carpet, just don't look down as you walk through.

Frankly, I'm more concerned about the 'pot holes' in the Grand Lobby that keep reappearing. Hopefully that problem will finally be resolved during the refit rather than just a surface repair such as another new lovely carpet, blue or otherwise :) -S.

Hi

Just back home from the May 17th crossing and we did notice a few "soft carpet dips" around the ship.

Odd but what a ship!!

A wonderful 8 days and feel very very spoilt 😀

Hi

Yes I will.

I'm taking Mum back home today and hope to complete our blog and post a review by Monday.

It was fantastic, never a dull or boring moment and the evenings were unbelievable.

Hi,

I am looking forward to seeing the changes to the QM2. I am booked on the September 27, 2016 Canada / New England cruise. This will be my fifth time on the QM2 (previously sailed on ship in 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2014). It is always interesting to see how the ship evolves over time.

Two American evening table companions of ours left the ship yesterday as we did and are spending time in London and Paris and then returning home on the first westbound from London after the refit!

Very nice indeed I think

And it appears we were all wrong about the colour

I wonder where that blue carpet Will be layed down? maby they planned on blue and changed their minds? or this might be for the alleyways outside of the cabins..guess we will all know soon!
