Copenhagen Ship to Airport

No problem. We recently faced the issue when disembarking from the Zuiderdam. Our norm would have been to simply grab a taxi but this was one of the rare cases (for us) where a cruise line transfer made more sense (financially and logistically). We simply tagged our luggage and put it out (the night before our departure) and did not see the luggage again until we reached the airport. We simply walked off the ship, onto our bus, and were soon off for the ride (around 45 min) to the airport. At the airport we were dropped at a staging area where our luggage was waiting (similar to a small port terminal). We grabbed our luggage and walked over to the airport terminal building.

If there is more then 1 ship at the port (we had two), taxis can involve a queue and actually cost about the same (or more) then the cruise line transfer. We cannot speak for lines other then HAL...but suspect they all have a similar transfer option.

You could make this flight even using public transportation. Last year, we did self-debarkation and took public transportation to the airport. We ended up sitting around for a couple of hours before our 12:30 pm flight.

Agree, but public transit can be a challenge for those with luggage. On our most recent visit there was a pretty long queue (many folks dragging large luggage) for the local bus (the public transit way to get to the train station where one can catch the train out to the airport). Many could not get on the crowded bus (there is no place to store luggage) and folks were not happy. To the credit of the local bus company, they did finally send an extra bus (the driver apparently called for more buses) so we suspect that most eventually got on the bus.

As has been noted, there are a number of options - ship's transfers, taxis or public transport.

We used the public transport method to Oceankaj (Regal Princess) for both embarking and disembarking. This worked for us as we were travelling light (the ship has self-service laundry facilities!), we were the only ship in port on both days so it was less than 100 m to the bus stop and we'd done our homework. We self-disembarked and were back at the airport within 45 mins - beating the first wave of Princess transfers comfortably.

Despite Princess' 'information' there were plenty of taxis available and no noticeable queue. However, if you're looking at a non-ship's transfer I'd look at the Ports of Copenhagen and Malmo website to check which other cruise ships will be in port that day as this may well impact on your decision.

I have a similar question - ship docks at 6:00 in Copenhagen, can I make a 10:50 flight? This allows us to use an airline travel credit that expires soon, which would be nice. Royal Carribean recommends no outbound flights earlier than 11:30, but is 10:50 doable if we carry our own luggage?

Assuming you do express debarkation (carry off your own luggage) and have transportation you should be fine. The problem is that driving from the ports to the CPH means having to go through a large section of the city which means dealing with lots of lights, rush hour, etc. We made it to the airport in about 50 minutes (on a bus) and suspect a taxi might do it a little faster.
