Star Pride Jewels of the Windward Islands

Jus got off the Star Pride yesterday and had a wonderful cruise. We had done the same cruise but on the Windstar 2 years ago and wanted to see the difference with the yachts. The verdict: we miss the sails but the rooms are great and service is up to Windstar standards.

Some details:

Initial reservation was made in early September and the price of the cruise steadily went down during October. Took advantage of price guarantee policy and got upgraded from a S1 to S3 and got lots of onboard credits.

Boarding was efficient but there was a bit of a backup at the registration desk as we came in around 1pm like a lot of other cruisers

Rooms are great (302) although ours had cracking noise at night when cruising (used earplugs). Bathrooms are clean and our attendant Christian very attentive and on top of things. The Pride is not a new ship and it does show its age but overall the ship is well maintained.

Part 2

Food was excellent, deck barbecue was moved one night due to rain. Went to Candles twice did not take beverage package as we did not feel it provided value nor flexibility.

Ports of call were great except for Kingstown St Vincent which was a replacement for Tobago Cay given the Star Pride does not have many Zodiacs. Sailed by the Pitons in St Lucia.

Sports platform was out 3 times.

We had brought some Windstar newbie friends with us and they truly appreciated the difference from a typical cruise. Will repeat for sure.

Missed the sails and the Vangelis theme on the yachts just does not have same meaning. But this is a great ship and guests were all very happy despite the rainy weather.
