Windstar Yachtsman - Credit cards/cash

Finalizing things for our 12/9 Yachtsman cruise.

Need to decide how much cash to bring.

In most cases, are credit cards accepted for shopping and restaurants at these ports? I understand that taxis and of course, tips, are cash.

We were on the Classic Caribbean last January and except in those instances you mentioned, we used our credit cards just about every where. We were in St Barths and rented a car, had lunch and drinks and shopped. We were running late returning the car and I remember we had an issue with the gas pumps and trying to figure out how to use the credit card so we might have paid cash to make it faster. We were in Antigua years ago and went to a market that we paid cash too. Just remember to let your credit card company know that you will be traveling and where. Enjoy!!

We have done this cruise twice and most places took credit cards. You may want to bring a few euros for when you are in st Barth and st Martin but everywhere else you may use US$. No need to bring a lot of cash

Most of St Maarten/Martin will gladly accept USD.

And if you pay cash on French side, many shops take USD at par with euro, although the savings is now only 6% (when I was there it was 15%).

We have been on the Windsurf before and will also be on the 12/9 cruise. We needed cash for the tips on the ship....the taxis...tips for guides (if you are taking excursions)...cash for items bought at local market kiosks. Everywhere else...we were able to use credit cards. We never changed our money to euros....just used dollars.
