October vs November weather in Pacific Northwest?

We are looking at the Empress for next October or November. November has excellent prices, but looks to be a lot colder/wetter than October. Anyone with experience who could shed some insight on the weather? TIA!

I used to live in Victoria BC, and November is hit or miss. Some seasons it's a little bit rainier than others. When it does rain, it tends to be a very light drizzle. However for the most part the fall in the Pacific Northwest is absolutely stunning.

We were on the American Empress westbound October 9-16. Overcast and occasional sprinkles in Spokane. By the time we got to Clarkston and for the next three days clear and comfortable. Overcast and occasional showers again in Stevenson and The Dalles. Astoria was cancelled due to predicted high winds and rain - we spent the day in Vancouver. Overcast and occasional rain that day. The days with showers and rain did not "dampen" our activities and enjoyment of the sights.

Thanks for the info! How were the temps? Obviously we'll need to pack rain jackets! We are booked on the westbound as well, 10/22/17.

Not real cold....60s daytime on rainy days. Layers! Rain jacket with a fleece jacket underneath. No heavy coats needed.

We live on the coast of WA state! Personally, I would not want to do that cruise in November. You may luck out and get some decent weather. But things around here start to turn around mid-October. September is probably our favorite month.

Can't help you with November but, here are the weather predictions from the daily "River Times" aboard the Empress Oct 9 - 15, 2016:

Sun Oct 9: Clarkston Showers L53° H67°; Mon Oct 10 Clarkston Sunny L43° H64°; Tues Oct 11 Richland Sunny L33° H62°; Wed Oct 12 Columbia River Partly Sunny L48° H64°; Thurs Oct 13 The Dalles Partly Cloudy/Showers L51° H57°; Fri Oct 14 Stevenson Rain L44° H57°; Sat Oct 15 Vancouver Wind/Rain L54° H59°.

We did not have any problems with the cool temperatures or rain...we got out and about every day. Layers so you can adjust quickly...a light weight rain shell is handy.

Enjoy!

I am planning to go on the Snake & Columbia River Cruise. Do you know if it is better to go from Vancouver to Clarkston to vice versa? I have heard that the ship will travel a little faster in one direction allowing more time at the ports. Please tell me the nicest time of the year to go (we can't go June, July or Aug.) and least rainy month.

Thanks so much!

Carol
