Mlife and Captain's Clup Tiers

Hi! We've got a trip to Las Vegas in the books over the summer and will likely acchieve points on our Mlife accounts and it seems the two programs will afford us a number of benefits as we're "only" Classic members in the X/Captain's Club... But, all points on Mlife are reset on September 30th - and our cruise is on October 28th. Does this mean that we've not be able to benefit from what ever Mlife points we might accrue during our Vegas visit?

Thanks your input and insights :)

You would more or less have to gamble quite a bit to achieve gold Mlife status, which is really where those benefits on Celebrity would kick in. For gold status, you must earn at least 75K tier credits and the next step up starts at 200K tier credits. Now, you might be heavy gamblers so I could not estimate if you could achieve at least gold status within 1 trip ....maybe so. But, you can also earn tier credits for every dollar you spend at Mlife properties so it would be worth it to link those two numbers to achieve that status more quickly.

Anyhow, yes, the status does reset itself every year on October 1st. Thus, if you do earn at least gold status from your gambling during the summer, be sure to call Celebrity and add your Mlife number to your reservation before October 1st. (I wouldn't bother with the lower statuses as they won't provide any perks of value.) They will check your status with Mlife to make sure it is valid. Also, be sure to take your Mlife card onboard and speak to the casino host the first night onboard. If you haven't already added your number to the reservation, I don't believe you will be able to receive any benefits while onboard.

BTW ... Royal Caribbean, Celebrity's parent company, does not allow you to add your number if you are already booked under a group promotion ... so you will not receive any benefits while onboard unless you book without any group perks, which are oftentimes worth a lot more than what the Mlife relationship would provide.

And ... if you are a very heavy gambler, you might inquire about the Blue Chip club while onboard. While you cannot receive both Mlife and Blue Chip benefits on Celebrity, I believe the Blue Chip status gets you even more benefits than Mlife. Might be worth looking into.

Have fun trying. I went the other way, I am Elite on Celebrity so I was upgraded to gold in Mlife. Not sure which way is cheaper - lol.

But I also was upgraded in Hyatt and another program (forget which) because on Mlife gold. Funny but it all stems from Elite in Celebrity.

enjoy

I am Gold on MLife and it doesn't require heavy gambling to achieve gold. I am considered a " low roller". :halo: All spending in MGM hotels including hotel room cost is counted as points. Just make sure that your MLife card is presented at check in. If you reach a status level on MLife, on Oct 1 your points reset to zero, but you retain your level for 1 year, so you will be fine on this cruise...make sure you take your MLife card with you.

We received a couple perks such as priority boarding and a nice dinner in a specialty restaurant. Thanks to MGM and Celebrity. :)

Cheers!

I hope for the OP that this is true ... and I guess 'heavy gambling' is all relative, right??

I am also what would be considered a low roller but could never have achieved our gold status in one trip to Vegas.....well, maybe we could but we don't as I always find it more fun to spread it between several trips per year.

And yes, be sure to gamble with your card and present it for everything you purchase at one of the MGM/Mirage properties. It will add up!

I am ever so grateful that Celebrity and MLife have this relationship. The best perk for us is the specialty dinner ... oh, and the drinks in the casino if we don't already have the drink package.

Cruise Raider :):p I should clarify...we go at least twice or 3 times a year to Vegas if I can talk Mr. HooKares into it. :D Also we have twinned our accounts so it all goes into my account. This helps when you are a low roller in Vegas!

Cheers!

We've been going about 5 times per year and do split our gambling between Mlife and Caesars properties (in order to get our discount on NCL)! I just love these casino and cruiseline relationships. I am sure we pay for it in the long run. :D:D:D

Hi CruiseRaider and HooKares, thanks for the updates! As Duanerice1 saod; the object of the game is to have fun ;) and no, we're not high rollers by any accounts - perhaps not even low rollers, nut like to place an occational bet on the roulette - but Las Vegas is for a convention and that should rake up some points on the accommodation and dining :)

We're also "just" Classic with Celebrity so just trying to make the most of our few bucks ;)
