Hi;

We are on QV from 4/7/15 to 11/7/15, disembarking at Civitavecchia where I have booked a transfer to a hotel in Rome.

Does anyone know how/when Cunard will disembark us as I need to confirm a pick-up time.I've provisionally said 10.00 a.m.

Have e-mailed Cunard last weekend but not received an answer yet.

thanks and happy cruising!

Self-disembarkation first, then a progression of times starting with Grills and then progressing from higher decks to lower. If you're carrying your own bags off the ship you'll be early but if you're on deck 1 the driver will probably be waiting for you.

If you have a time booked with a driver, and the time you are given by the ship is not suitable, go to Reception. They can say one of two things:

1. 'Of course we can help you Sir/Madam. We will change your time to ...' or

2. 'I am very sorry that we cannot change your time. All we can suggest is that you choose self-disembarkation and then you can get off at any time that suits you.'

By the way, be sure to specify with the driver if they are meeting you at the ship or outside the port gates. The port at Civitavechhia is quite long. A bus is provided for safety's sake to get you from the ship to the port gates. I remember seeing taxis waiting at the ship but I don't know if they will let booked cars inside. Your company will know. If you are meeting the car at the port gate, allow plenty of time to get on the shuttle bus, especially if there are a lot of ships in port that day.

We have gotten off here many times on many lines, including Cunard on the Queen Victoria... we always pre arranged a private car, have them pick us up at 9 or 9:30 am., never been a problem. Hope this helps.. the only day of the week I have seen some delays is on Sunday and we were still off the ship well before this time.

As it happens, we'll also be disembarking at Civitavecchia on 11 July but from a different ship (Hapag Lloyd's Europa 2). We have booked a car to take us to the airport and the firm have stated that they have the necessary license to enter the port and will meet us at the ship.

  • 11 months later...

I see that this thread has some old information on it. Newbie to Cunard, so I have a couple questions. I need to arrange pickup information with our hotel. When does Cunard give you your disembarkation time? The hotel says that I can provide a pickup time no later than one day prior. Should we just do "Self-disembarkation"? I assume you are to carry your own bags for this? If so, do you suggest the 9-9:30am pickup time for a private car hire? I am told disembarkation should begin approx. 7:30am (02 July, Deck 6, Queen Victoria).

It sounds like I'll also have to check with the hotel as to where the car will pick us up at. Thank you for any advice you can provide.
