Taxi from Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal to Dubai City?

Hello everyone,

We are on a cruise that gets into Abu Dhabi and stays there for a few days. Instead of then going straight home to London, we want to get a taxi to Dubai and stay near the Burj Khalifa for two nights. I wondered how easy it was to simply flag a taxi at the cruise terminal and go to Dubai? I've head it's about 40 - 50 pounds, so almost half the cost of arranging a transfer in advance, but I'm worried about all the other passengers getting off the ship taking taxis and thus having a long wait.

Many thanks,

Adam

PS - Dubai hotel recommendations welcome!

Lots of taxi's so that should not be a problem. If you have lots of luggage - then would likely hire a private transfer.

Hotels -- lots of hotels

At the Burj -- The Address is still closed because of the fire. I would suggest the Palace.

Near the Burj -- The Ritz (at the DIFC), the Conrad (near the World Trade Center), JW Marquis in Business Bay (they have a shuttle to the Dubai Mall), Shangri-la. Less expensive Crown Plaza, Novotel and Ibis (near the WTC) - I am usually on a business trip so my choices is more $$$.
