Car rentals

Anyone ever rent a car from the Avis at the port or anywhere else? We are thinking of just exploring on our own. Thanks!!

We rented a car from Avis when we were in Curacao in January. We reserved in advance and it was ready when we arrived in port. The Avis building is right when you get off the ship. We did as another cruise critic suggested and put our stuff for the day in the trunk then left it at the terminal while we wandered the historic town area. It was also very reasonably priced, working out to about $70 for the full day. One caution is that when we were there, they were only open in the morning so if you delay picking it up, you might end up missing out.

We were glad we made the decision to rent a car. We enjoyed snorkelling on quiet beach as well as touring the Curacao liquor "factory".

I sent two reservation requests this weekend and have not received any confirmation emails back from Avis. Did you get a response right away- do I need to call them?
