I'm not sure of the list you speak of but here is what I will be packing for a 7 day cruise in two weeks:

2 Bathing Suits

3 Running/Workout Shorts

2 Sets of Under Armour gear for work outs

2 T shirts

3 Sleeveless Cotton workout /running shirts

2 pair workout/running socks

1 pair dockers

1 polo shirt

2 pair underwear

Flip Flops

Running Shoes

Dress Shorts

Vitamins and supplements

It all fits in a carry on bag.

Love it.

You've got plenty of workout clothes there but are you really planning to wear the same shirt & pants every night? Only 2 pair of underwear?

You may want to rethink your list.............

No need to rethink. Yes I wear the same shirt and pants every night for dinner, unless I wear dress shorts. I figure wearing the same stuff to dinner every night equates out to one days wear at work. Sometimes depending on DW's mood I might rent a tux. As for underwear, you are right I prob only need one pair since I'm almost always in a bathing suit. LOL:)

I guess it depends on what you enjoy doing. We haven't cruised for 7 days, do longer cruises but speaking from a womans point of view.

1. # 2 to 3 shorts

2. #2 casual blouses

3. Tennies/Walking shoes

4. pair of evening slacks for MDR and #2 blouses

5. Pair of nice heels

Not using the pool much now

6. Camera & batteries + charger

7. Toiletries

8. underwear

Husband

1. 1 to 2 slacks

2. 2/3 shirts

3. underwear, T shirt

4. Walking shoes + evening shoes

5. Toilitires

6. 1 pair of shorts

It definately depends on what one likes to do. DW packs a lot more stuff than I do. Should note all workout gear is tech stuff so it's easy to rinse out and dry.

The most comprehensive list I've found is here:

http://www.*************.com/downloads/*************%20_Packing_List_Oct_2011_rev2.pdf

I just scratch out what I don't need, and add the very few things I need that aren't on there. It's a great list!

EDIT: Apparently it's not okay to have the name of another cruise-centric website even mentioned? Whatever. Go to cruise crazies dot com, and click on "packing." :)

I find it quite easy to pack only those clothes that I really will need by making a spreadsheet.

The columns are each day of the cruise including the first and last travel days and show whether it is a port or sea day. It also helps to add any excursion you have booked or are thinking of taking and what you plan on doing.

Under that I list morning, afternoon and evening. Then I plug in the outfit I want for that day.

I find that what I wear on Casual night is usually good for the next day also.

Sea days are easy, bathing suit and shorts and a t top if I want to go to the casino or dining room for lunch. I don't usually have the shorts and t top on very long so they are good for another day as well.

Makes packing very easy and avoids packing too many clothes. Always allow for purchasing t shirts in the ports so that cuts down on how many to take. I also try to mix and match clothes for dinner. Black slacks and 2 tops. Or one long dress with different jackets. Just change out the jewelry and you have a whole new outfit.

It really does help to write it down or put it on the computer. So many of the items I have seen on some packing lists are just not needed.

I do find a small flashlight, post it notes and highliter sure do come in handy. Now that my DH cruises with me I leave the flashlight at home and just leave the bathroom light on and close the door.

I also try to take one pair of dress shoes that will go with everything, a pair of day time sandals, sneakers and pool shoes.

I have found that if I don't make this list then I pack clothes that we never wear. So why lug a heavy suitcase around unnecessarily.

Judy now I like your plan. Although I don't write things down, I generally start off with figuring my evening attire, based upon Formal vs casual. I bring 1 pair of black slacks, two fancy tops, and 1 dress. Since we had 3 days Pre cruise in Barcelona, I had to figure for the 3 days + the 15 cruise days and ports. I ended up with 1 pair of jeans, & 3 causal slacks that could be also worn during the evening casual nights, excluding the jeans. I then ended up with 3 nicer evening pants as well. One lady on our cruise figuring for a 2 week cruise, uses the 5 of everything rule.

I lay out my slacks on the bed I think I want then try and mix & match blouses to go with them. I keep my heels down to 2 pair.

Go through your daily routine and pack what you need, not what others are taking. The list can be different for all of us and can also vary depending on the weather and destination. My packing list changes for every trip, but my toiletries stay the same whether gone a few days or a few weeks.

A better travel list is one that you check off what needs to be taken care of. We give one out free at the luggage store where I work part time. Since I'm on my iPod I can't link, but go to http://www.eaglecreek.com click on travelers insights then travel checklist.

Some of the packing lists are enormous on this message board and would be mire appropriate for a camping trip!
