Ice cream in MDR on Favolosa ten days ago. None in buffet. Carts seen but never in use. Would be a pity for it not to be an option for desert as it was both mine and husband desert of choice each evening. Well I had sorbet (sherbet)

You have never said you saw your Grandkids. This is the first mention of you seeing them.

As regards your opinion of my credibility. Am I bovvered? No!

So being on a high horse you get your information straight from the horse's mouth.

I see you had to climb down on another thread after another cruiser confirmed ice cream in MDR on Pacifica. Must have hurt knowing your infallability has great holes in it.

You just posted here to denigrate rather than add to the discussion - therefore I have reported your post. The tone of your response was unnecessary and uncalled for.

However to progress the discussion and in an attempt to clarify whether Icecream is freely available and for free in the MDR, I received an email on 30th May from Costa DE.

I don't speak German but I assume you do. Below is a response from Customer Service in Costa DE [Why they responded to me in German and not in English is anyone's guess, a quick email to Costa VP for Guest Relations now has some one drafting an English response to me]

Google translate offers some sort of meaningful translation where the last sentence is the operative sentence - Ice cream is available on board but at a charge. Is that not what I said on day 1. I can only assume it is not yet rolled out across the fleet as it still appears on some ships.

You are what we highlighted areas of your opinion of improvement. To let us know that your children was no ice on the day of embarkation and dessert available . According to a survey on board our ships , our headquarters has therefore decided in Genoa , a new concept - the " Italy 's Finest " ( back to the roots of Italy ) - introduce . In the course of the menus have been adjusted during dinner . For long-term trends and corresponding survey results we are product changes very positive about . That this does not meet your needs , We are sorry . We want to offer a variety of options to our customers , and apparently there were not able to convince you of our new product , the " Italy 's Finest " . it should be mentioned that we offer our guests of course ice . This service is available for a fee .

I cannot be any clearer than that unless I get the English response to my query.

You can report me to ever you want, including my MIL. But this does not change the facts the you give out false information, this was confirmed yesterday in another thread about Room Service.

The response in English arrived today

Coming to the specific points of your complaint please note that ice creams are no more available for free on board of our ship and in fact are no more available in the dessert menu of the dining room.

This is from Costa's Guest Relations and Quality Assurance Department, UK and Emerging Markets. I think they confirm what I experienced, no ice cream available as a dessert in the MDR.

So I stand by my information being true an accurate. Now if it is all the same to you, I would prefer if you would not respond to my posts and I yours going forward - to this end, there is no need to apologise to me for suggesting my information is inaccurate when it is founded on personal experience and verified by Costa. Happy cruising.

Why should I apologise, should be the otherway round. On the other thread about room service other posters have also said your information is false - so I stand by my statement.

Boys, boys, boys....:)

Clearly you are both right because ice cream is available on some ships and not on others right now. Just as the "rollout" schedule of other things they are adding (like the new suite benefits or the re-introduction of the buffet dinner option) varies depending on the ship, so must the taking away of the free ice cream. I have to say I hope that it hasn't taken effect yet on the Favolosa since I will be sailing on her in 15 days! :p *fingers crossed*

Meant your and its still boring

Totally agree. But when a condescending member turns round and says I am lying when I saw things with my own eyes then I take exception to that. Also he now starts insulting Germans and my host country.

I'll let you make up your own mind.

I do get it but some time you just got to be the better person. No offence just saying.

Not many things annoy me!!!

But no Ice Cream for dessert on an Italian ship is annoying! Especially not on the kids menu. Kids dont want some exotic dessert......they want ice cream!

Just got back, its not there, asked and they said its gone. Have to buy it from a man with a trolley sat near the pool. But he isnt there at night.

I have no objection if they did what MSC do and have a proper Ice Cream shop......even though its included in the all inclusive. But it seems this is not very well thought out. I cant imagine the cost they save is very much......

Costa 2017 policies are changing many things.....lets hope they see sense with this.

There is a Lord!

No ice cream on Costa Mediterranea menus in MDR. I was being made to feel that I had dreamt it all. There was also a cart selling ice cream in the casino - funny thing is that kids are not allowed in the casino!!! Great marketing Costa!

What did you think of Mr Barbieri's Gala menu? We didn't think much!

Did you have the braised venison and polenta? Least said soonest mended!

Dying to read your review, where is it?

Ive done my review.......it must be pending! Its quite long, i wont ruin it for you, but the cruise wasnt quite what we expected.

I didnt have that particular item! Too much cheek and tail on the menu for my liking, but there were alternatives. There is a pic of the gala menu on my review.

Not sure how long you have been cruising with them but I get the impression most of the kitchens now just do warming.

Pre-cooked premium meals are being used in many 5 star restaurants now, All pre cooked, all exactly the same size. And all ordered through a wholesaler, delivered frozen and warmed in the 5 star kitchen.

I think this is the way Costa (and probably others) have gone now, the menu states all the frozen items, the only thing not frozen was salad! Funny, the little frozen motive next to everything! Nothing cooked fresh. Having said that, if its good enough for city eateries, why not cruise ships. And with 5000 plus people on the next generation, the size of the kitchens would need to be huge.....its a natural development, kitchen space is used for people.

Overall we enjoyed the food! Except no ice cream......

Another odd thing.......thought i would treat the wife to a nice dinner in the speciality restaurant. Only the menu was exactly the same as the main dining room. We went up to book next evening, I started to drool over a sumptuous special menu.....and saw the same food we just ate! I took pics of it in case no one believed me!!! No need to pay extra......

There was a full evening buffet, but it wasn't like lunch, in all the normal buffet stations. But there seemed to be enough space for everyone. They cant use them all as some are prepared for the Burgers and Pizza bar.

If you try the Burgers, let us know how they are, are you just 2 or family?

We are travelling the Luminosa with two teens who eat a tremendous amount! We may end up with a late dining time so the dinner buffet will reduce my stress quite a bit as they will be able to eat when they are hungry :0)

I have two hungry teens here, too (14 and 18). We were happy to hear about the re-introduction of the dinner buffet, as well! :p I'll be sure to get the scoop on the teen club from my 14 year old, also, but he doesn't usually use it as much as my daughter did (but now she's aged out of the kid's club as of earlier this month).
