Tipping ? What is common

Hi all,

This is our first time visiting SA, so can you give me some insight on tipping both for restaurants and guides.

Is it like Europe when dining as it relates to tipping?

What about guides? acceptable percentages?

Thank you for information. We are leaving in a few weeks and want to be appropriate.

Bonnie, our experience in South Africa was at restaurants tipping of 10 to 15 percent of the bill is a good guideline.

Tipping for tour guides was around $15.00 to $25.00 per day per person.

We base our final tips on the enjoyment and level of service.
