Alaska Excuusion Suggestions

For our first time, my wife and I will be cruising Alaska waters in mid-May 2017 and stops include Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan. I am seeking information re worthwhile excursions at those ports and alternate suggestions if those are not available...

Helicopter to Mendenhall Glacier or whale watching from Juneau. White Pass Railroad in Skagway.

Harv and Marv whale watching. Hands down my favorite excursion. Sorry, can't remember which port. They have a website though.

Best excursion we ever did was jet boat to Misty Fjords at Ketchikan and floatplane flight back to town. Misty Fjords is really awesome - like Yosemite valley with cliffs and waterfalls, but flooded. Taking off and landing on water was a bucket list thing.

Juneau we got our helicopter glacier flight scrubbed due to weather so switched to whale watching and it was great. Had time to kill so took city bus to Glacier Gardens on our own (much less $$) and found it a nice surprise - planning to go back there in June.

I would post this question on the Alaska Ports of call and the cruise line the your cruising with.

Also look for Meet & Mingle fpr your specific cruise. Many people there will have ideas and also have set up private excursions as well.

In Skagway I did the excursion that took you up into the Yukon. Lunch was at Caribou Crossing where they breed sled dogs. We came back on the White Pass and Yukon Railroad. One of the best excursions I have ever taken.

I agree about the Skagway tour. We did that with Chilkoot Tours. Very professional, guaranteed your prompt return and less expensive than ship. The second time in Skagway, we rented a car and did the same route. The train experience was awesome!

Harv and Marv are in Juneau. Great company. Make your reservations ASAP.

Ketchikan was nice, but doesn't have the same travel experiences as the others.
