My spouse brought her flat iron on her last cruise with Princess.

Having one with an auto shutoff would be ideal. I don't feel it safe to have a flat iron or curling iron that doesn't have an auto shut-off. A fire on a ship is one of the most dangerous events that could occur. I would think that they would/should be taken away at the beginning of the cruise and returned at the end as they do with other unsafe items, i.e., knives. In fact I do recall a thread a few years back (perhaps on another cruise line) where they were regarded as unsafe.

Very good point.

The cruise staff would not like to deal with hundreds of unhappy women who had their flat irons taken away.

Last cruise, i would unplug mine after use and leave it kn the table. My wonderful cabin stewardess would always wrap up the cord and place it nicely in a designated spot on the table. In fact she organized everything for me. Wish i could have brought her home.

At least they provide those in the laundry room. I wish all cruise lines provided them.

Curling irons and flat irons for hair are fine.

If I couldn't take my curling iron, I'd quite cruising! :D

I would hate to know my ship went down in the middle of the ocean because some women couldn't live without a 'SAFE' flat/curling iron.

Why not just go to a store, for the sake of all of us, and buy one that has an auto shut off. I'm sure one could be found on Ama_on or similar site on line.

The laundry is one of those little things that add up to making Princess so great IMHO.

Oh shucks! I thought this was going to be about the delicious (if grilled properly) flat iron steaks.
