UK Cruisers-OBC purchase

For those of you in the UK who are concerned about the poor $/£ rate post Brexit- I have purchased OBC today for my upcoming Independence cruise and got a great rate of $1.42 to the £. $300 cost me £210, so a lot better than the rate on the high street or the rate that your bank will possibly use if they convert your spend.

I thought that RC may have reduced their rate by now...who knows if or when they will? I feel happier knowing I got a decent rate today :)

I had already bought OBC at that rate for cruises this year but after seeing the rate in town today and your post have just bought 300$ for next April.

As an aside we got back yesterday from 2 weeks in Corfu. The rate when we arrived for the Euro was 1.27, should have bought some!!

So with that rate can I buy say $1000 OBC - and then cash out cash at the Casino ? Will I receive notes or do I have to input a credit into a machine - then cash out and then get notes ? Any charges ?

Im off for three weeks in November to Vegas, LA etc so getting my hands on real dollars at 1.42 would be handy :)

If your onboard account is secured with a credit card, then they will charge you 5% to get cash from the casino. If your onboard account is a cash account, then no charge.

If you wait until the last day of the cruise, you can get cash for any remaining refundable OBC from Guest Services for no fees.

Can you buy it for an unspecified cruise? We want to buy some but if we have some left over from the next cruise, can it be rolled over to the next cruise, refunded or is it lost?

I cashed out on the last night when I settled my bill and got cash back - last years rate was great ;)

I believe you must attach the OBC to a booked cruise. However, you can get any leftover refundable OBC in cash on the last evening at Guest Services.

Just to confirm Royal is still giving this rate this morning (Saturday). I just gained $45 over post office rates.

Thanks for the heads up. I've just purchased for our B2B cruises next year. Rate worked out at £1 = $1.428.

OK so I purchased $400 OBC this morning and the confirmation invoice email arrived this afternoon all is good it is the correct amount of £s charged to my card wich we agreed at time of purchase.

My question is Nowhere does it confirm I purchased $400 or what exchange rate I was given. Is there anywhere I can see my OBC or confirmation of the rate -especially asking those that have already purchased.

Same ! Typical RCCL website / email - never detailed. I checked rates and amount given at £200, £400 and then £300 - all came out at 1.43 and it sats calls are recorded. I'm expecting $429 on my OBC - I'll go mental if its not that when I board lol - but Im sure it will be just fine :)

It pains me to say this especially with all the recent shenanigans with RCI but you will have to trust that the OBC will be as purchased.

We have done this multiple times , like you I was a bit worried about the lack of confirmation of Dollar amount on the e.mail but we have never had a problem once on the ship.

Thank you for the rassurance, I guess it is a leap of faith and worst that can happen is we will not have as many pre purchased dollars as we hoped so wont have beat the system lol

I get them to send both the invoice receipt which can only show the amount in £s but I then get them to send a second email that states the amount of dollars that is on my account (total for all OBC purchased) - that way I have proof;)
