No Blues and Reds

The point about everybody having the same perks would make for interesting viewing. I'd love to be a fly on the wall near the GS line on the ship. I guess they could board Diamonds first, then the Plats would be treated like Golds and below and have to wait their turn. I can see it now. Plats scrambling to buy FTTF before their cruise. They'd probably have to wear dark glasses and a wig in case someone they know from the Plat world saw them buying it.

Diamonds will still be diamond and platinums will still be platinum. However, someone that stays in a suite should get more loyalty points then somebody in a 1a on the riverara deck. Additionally spending more on sign and sail than the cost of the cruise should also be factored in.

OK, I will share my thoughts a little more. This has nothing to do with Red and Blues wandering around the ship. This is more of a loyalty cruise.

Let me explain; each year one ship is selected for one cruise for only those that are loyal to Carnival. That would be, Diamond, Platinum and Gold (or those that need a few days at sea to obtain Gold Status). This cruise would cost more than a similar cruise at that time; that is, one that is available to anyone regardless of the color of their Sign & Sail card. But the benefits to those on this charter would see benefits unlike anything offered before by Carnival, i.e. Concerts, high profile comedians (George Lopez, etc), reduce drinks or cheers prices, high quality branded merchandise, special dining menus, and list goes on and on. All with no additional costs.

I think this would be a perfect program during the slow cruising season, while at the same time appreciating those cruisers dedicated to Carnival.

Hi there

I still don't get it!

If you want a more upscale cruising experience and are willing to pay extra, why wouldn't you just find a cruise line that offers what you are looking for?

Just my opinion but there really isn't anything very special about being platinum or even diamond status. Even Carnival doesn't think so, or the rewards would be much better. Compared to some other lines their perks are very modest.

happy sailing

First I'm talking about a possible loyalty cruise for those loyal to carnival. No more, nothing less.

Second, I have status on 3 other cruise lines. But I like Carnival the most and that is why I proposed a loyalty cruise on the site.

Finally, for someone that I quote "I could care less about status", your message and signature mentions your status 6 different times. You most really, really really care about your status. So, I guess I just proved that you are a hypocrite.

LOL, They will flame for anything

Just remember this though...just because someone has a BLUE card does not mean that they are new to cruising...just new to cruising on Carnival. We were 13 cruises in on Carnival before we took our first Princess cruise....and when we did, we got the dreaded BLUE card on Princess. We are going to be booking a Celebrity cruise for the end of next year, and even though we will have 22 cruises under our belt, we will get the dreaded NEWBIE card on Celebrity. Although I understand the concept of what you are thinking, I believe that it would be a terrible business practice. I am sure that carnival makes way more revenue on the NEW passengers, than on the previous passengers. I mean, whenever we cruise now, we don't get all the photos, or do some of the other things that we did on our first cruise. Just a thought.

Before I get started, I know I will get flamed like a college bound fire before the big game. But I am going to ask the questions just to see what interest is out there.

We just got of the Sunshine's last 8 day cruise. I know all cruises include a lot of newbies, but as I had to go around a bunch of wandering red and blue cruisers on the Lido Deck and Staircases. I was wondering:

Would there be an interest for Carnival to create a cruise just for Diamond, Platinum and Gold Cruisers? This cruise would have special activities and beverage (as well as other items) prices. No newbies (red or blues) would be allowed. Just experienced Carnival cruisers.

This is just an interesting thought and I am not looking to create some big issue. But, I would be interested in being on a cruise where the passengers are as experience with Carnival as myself.

Great idea. Also no tips required.

not saying you didn't do this because i wasn't there, but instead of thinking about why you don't want a newbie there next time you have to simply go around them on the stairs, maybe ask them where they're going and help them out if they look confused.

You might make a friend.

There isn't enough popcorn in the world for this post :)

Personally, not only do I really like chatting with new cruisers to see how their trip is going and enjoy that excitement and wonder, but I'm also a little jealous of them. Nothing will ever compare to that first step into the atrium on your first ship.

I wouldn't want to be on a cruise without the newbs :)

Maybe you could consider buying your own yacht?

No you won't. Celebrity card colors are based on the cabin category, not number of cruises.

Captains Club status is printed on the card, but your card will look just like the card of someone who has been on 22 Celebrity Cruises.

..................experienced cruiser?? means nothing.........

Kim

absolutely incorrect. I have many friends that come to me for advice and answers about cruising because i have been on so many. i offer then factual answers based on my cruising experience. experience means knowledge and that means a lot.

Sorry, my bad. I wasn't posting in response to your post. I was just agreeing with the ppl who pointed out that a seasoned cruiser could be new to the Carnival line and have a blue card, but not the inexperience believed to be associated with it.

there is a difference between and experienced cruiser and an experienced carnival ....or any other line....cruiser. if a carnival newbie asked an experienced ncl cruiser if he could can bring 7 bottles of wine on board at embarkation he just might get the answer 'yes, you just have to pay a 15 dollar corkage fee per bottle' which would be correct on ncl but completely incorrect on carnival.

There are also the very very experienced CCL cruisers who sail in "non-revenue" cruises (family rates, family of crew, casino freebie promos, Some FAMs etc) that might literally have dozens and dozens of cruises, but, because they were booked on a non-revenue rate, they do not count towards VIFP status and thus, despite their extensive experience, are not diamond or platinum... But cruising with a ship full of everyone who "knows it all" would be tedious! (To avoid those crowds I guess we could just do what newbies usually do since all the plat/diamond guests will be doing what they usually do to avoid the newbie congestion)

Not sure why you're getting this information from. All 8 of my casino freebie promo cruises have counted towards VIFP status.

Um... It was: "I could NOT care less" about status, but most people get that term wrong, as you did.

Also, last time I checked, Cunard is owned by Carnival, or did that escape your attention? At least with with RCI and Celebrity I get status across both lines, but not with Carnival and Cunard.

You want a "loyalty" cruise, knock yourself out getting one!

Same here. Both of my casino freebie cruises have counted, in fact we just turned gold.

Back to the topic, didn't everyone have to be blue and red at some time?

I would think the wandering around the deck would happen anytime you are on a different ship or different class of ship. It wouldn't matter if you were red or platinum of you were on a new class of ship.

No way, I love talking with what we call "blue-cards." LOL They are so excited, and I love answering any questions they may have or recommend things for them to do. :) We almost make it a game when we people watch, trying to pick out "blue-cards" from their behavior. :D:D:D

this would be a problem for "mixed" families. one question in my mind is whether blues and reds spend the most money? i know i've learned a few tricks along the way. i spent waayy more then than i will now that i'm turning gold. if that's the case, no benefit for carnival.
