Finally got a chance to read your review & I enjoyed it. You went to three of my favorite ports & two ports I hope to visit someday. I'm sailing on the Breeze the week of Halloween.

Hope you have a speedy recovery from your surgery.

Your daughter is so beautiful. Loved her mermaid costumes.

Congrats on going for your BSN. Good luck with your studies. My sister is planning on starting in a program in the fall in which she will transition from LPN to RN. She is usually the person I cruise with when I do not go solo but will not be able to until she completes her studies. Told her when she got her RN she gets to pick the cruise we go on.

Thanks and glad you enjoyed the review. Which are your favorite ports? Just wondering. If there's somewhere else you go at these ports, let me know. I hope to return some day.

Congrats to your sister in doing the LPN to RN program. At least she has a good head start in her knowledge with nursing. It's a long hard road. :)

Hope your eye surgery went well today. Ive been sending positive healing thoughts yoir way.

My DH saw that I'd been searching for mermaid tails on the computer and was wondering what that was all about. He had no idea what I meant about mermaid tails, so I pulled up a couple of pictures of Sakari in her new blue tail. He thought she was really cute! :D I also showed him some of your pictures of Little Divi since we may very well end up going there in the not too distant future.

We do not normally allow dogs in restaurants in Florida, so I don't know what was going on with the dog you saw in Subway. There are some places that allow dogs on oitdoor terraces, but when they do the dogs are required to be on a leash, not running around on their own.

My thoughts on the extra charge on your rental car - tourist tax. That is especially true if an airport pick up or retrun is involved. Most of the car companies do not charge extra to rent at one place and return at another, but I believe that a few of them might.

Thanks for the positive thoughts. It went well...at least that's what they say. If you ask me, not so well. :p

I bet DH thought you were crazy looking up mermaid tails. LOL

Hmm, not sure why they allowed this dog in the restaurant. The owner actually stayed inside and ate even though there were plenty of tables and chairs outside to eat at (which is where we ended up eating at because the ones inside were full).

I will have to dig out my receipt and take a better look at it to see what happened and what they charged for.

I hope everything went Ok with your surgery, Kim... and here, wishing you a smooth recovery from Canada! :)

Kim, hope that your surgery went well and that you're up and back at it in no time.

Love your review and looking forward to the rest when you're up to it.

Thank you both. I really appreciate you thinking of me and my surgery. Everything is super blurry, but it will take time to heal. They say up to 2-3 months before my vision is back to normal. :(

I am so jealous of your tans. Do you use sunscreen? If so, what level of SPF? I swear, every time I go on a cruise I come back just as white as when I went.

Actually my moms dad was full blooded Indian, so that's why we tan so well.

Yes, we use sunscreen because even though we hardly ever burn here, while in the Caribbean, we do burn. Believe it or not, we use SPF 100! It keeps us from burning 90% of the time. :D

Silly me I was looking at the pictures before I read what museum you were going to, the picture looks like museum of disco lol! I was like wow I didn't know there was disco museum and that Kim loves disco that much!:p but seriously that museum looked like lots of fun, thanks for another awesome review!

LOL  I did notice that when I uploaded the picture and thought it was funny. I wondered if anyone else would notice. Good eye! ;)

Kim,

Loved your review as always. We're headed out tomorrow to go on the Breakaway to Bermuda.

Was Essencia on the Breeze for your cruise? They were totally awesome last October and the atrium would get mobbed with everyone trying to catch their performances:

Wishing you all the best with your eye surgery and for a speedy recovery!

Oh lucky you...on the Breakaway and in Bermuda!! Gosh I love Bermuda. I told the hubby IF we do a cruise in July/August (instead of a land vacation), I want to go back to Bermuda. I really love it there and spending 3 days in port just rocks!

I don't really know if Essencia was on there or not. I know they had performances there on those step landings, but I was thinking a person was singing, so maybe it wasn't them. I would have to look at my Funtimes to be sure.

Awesome once again!

I hope your surgery went well and you are doing well.

Thanks Again for the last week of great entertainment and all of your time and effort.

Thanks and glad you enjoyed it. :)

I hope your eye surgery went according to plans with no complications and you are resting comfortably this evening.

If you ever decide to do a land trip instead of a cruise we all will want you to post a review comparing cruises to resorts so you can still post it on CC.

Do you want a lot of Face Book friends? I would love to have you for a friend. Carol Silhan Cayce

Thank you Carol. I'm a little blind at the moment and totally relying on my right eye to see anything. It really really sucks.

I would really like to do a land vacation to Cancun and head over to Cozumel for a day or so and be able to review some of the other places over there that I haven't made it to. So we'll see. :D

I have quite a few "cruise friends" on my social media site. I just looked you up and added you. :) Most are people I have sailed with or met on a roll call or some that I talk to a lot here on the forums and feel as if we "know" each other. :p Of course you fit that category. I'm always talking to you on the threads and reviews.

It started out as a skate shop ...as in aggressive skates in 2009, since he's a skater. Then we expanded to skateboards, bmx bikes, longboards, snowboards, wakeboards and scooters about 2-3 years ago :D Just google Bakerzied and it should come up to his website. :)

very COOL : )

my hubby and I own a Photoshop, last year the town had a skateboard park built, my shop is very close, like out the back door, close, we had the room in the store, so we allowed a kid (34) to put a skateshop in our photoshop

I found your hubby's website

That's cool. Our shop before our current location had a warehouse in the back of the store and he built a bunch of ramps and things to grind and everyone would come there to "play". He held a couple of "previews" of new releases of videos there and had the "pros" come once when they were touring and had a big party. It was a lot of fun. :D

I enjoyed the same thing on the Miracle to Hawaii. Really, people, don't be a sofa hog.

Eek! I hope there are no photos of me asleep on a couch floating around cruise critic. I've been seasick on both my Royal Caribbean cruises. Once I had to sleep on a couch in the middle of the lobby, because it was the only place I didn't feel ill. The next time I found a couch between the music theater and casino on a lower deck, just so I could lay down with my eyes shut. I could hear people comment as they walked by... sorry folks! I'm seasick!

So glad surgery went well! Hope all is less blurry soon! So now that you have more NCL and CL cruises under your sea belt ;) how do they rank?

Thank you. You never know just how precious eyesight is until you don't have it. :(

Well, I would definitely rank the Breeze as one of my favorites and right beside Epic (which I'm doing again in November). I never cruise ships over again (and only doing Epic again because Sakari was unable to cruise with us that time). However, I would definitely do the Breeze again if it fit the right time, price and ports. I liked it that much!!

I think the food is comparable on both, however, NCL offers more options and food 24/7. The entertainment is still #1 on NCL. The service has been great and friendly on both lines and comparable. I would say that mostly they are equal. I love them both! (Although our NCL cruises are always a lot cheaper than any Carnival that I have taken so far). :)

Aww, that sucks. Hopefully there isn't any floating around with you on them either. :p But that's different. I have seen many people napping both inside and outside in various areas. But these people were on the back of the ship (so not due to sea sickness) and with the limited spaces for smokers, it was just rude IMO. Go somewhere else to nap so that smokers have a place to go. :(

I know you said that it was hard having two cruises so close together, but have you seen the price for the Gem out of San Juan? Dec. 11 she's $499 for 8 days!! I saw this and thought of you, since I know you're looking to sail that one AND do San Juan Bioluminescence Bay.

Oh my gosh, why you gotta go and do that to me? I just checked $1385 for all 3 of us to go (including port charges). Ugh! If it wasn't for my kids going on the Epic with me this time around, I would so cancel and rebook this instead. But the hubby has a fit about cruising around Christmas time because it takes such a chunk out of his Christmas sales in the store. So, he always says we have to cruise around October or November now. Plus working it out with the kids and their work schedule is always such a hassle as well. I just can't change at this point. :(

Kim,

thanks for the review. I'm doing an Eastern Caribbean on the Magic in October. I took notes from your review.

I hope your eye gets better.

I hope you find something you might enjoy from the reviews I have done. I want to cruise the Magic now. :D

Thanks for the "get betters" for my eye. I appreciate it.

Congrats to your sister in doing the LPN to RN program. At least she has a good head start in her knowledge with nursing. It's a long hard road. :)

The three ports that are my favorite are San Juan, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, & Grand Turk. For me to go back to any one of them, I would have to go out of Florida or fly into Puerto Rico. The nearest ports to me are New Orleans & Galveston.

When I went to San Juan, I stayed there for 2 days each time(2 days after the Conquest Repo cruise. 2 days before sailing on Splendor.) I am a history buff so I spent a lot of time at El Morro. Was going to go to San Cristobel but ran out of time because of going through El Morro. El Morro is a huge fort. The hotels I stayed in were in Old San Juan. There are cats walking through Old San Juan(Especially around the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista). They are fixed & the residents there take care of them. Some of the cats will let you pet them. Some will not.

Went on the Flavors of San Juan food tour. I highly recommend it. Got to try Puerto Rican food at six different restaurants. When my sister went with me, we went to the Barcardi Factory(Not a place for children.). The next time I go, I am planning on going to the El Yunque National Forest & to Fort San Cristobel.

I have only been to St. Thomas once & fell in love with it. When I went, I went to Magen's Bay Beach. Fell in love with how peaceful & beautiful it was there. As a part of the excursion I went on, our bus stopped in a shopping area not too far from the port. Walked around there & ate at a place called Green House. The food was good(Thought I could not go into a restaurant that had a lot of people in there from my home state & not get bad food. Lol). Got back to the port & decided to take the sky ride to Paradise Point. The view up there was gorgeous. Enjoyed a drink called bushwhacker while I was enjoying the sights from up there. In the little shop area at Paradise Point, there was a woman who had a bird show.

The next time I go, I will be looking into going to Coki Beach or Sapphire Beach.

I have been to Grand Turk twice. The first time there I went snorkeling. Went on an excursion through Carnival in which they took us to two different places to snorkel(One shallow. One deep.) Grand Turk has been the best place I have gone snorkeling at. Got to see the dolphins swim by as I snorkeled. My last time in Grand Turk, my sister & I rode atvs. When I saw your pictures of the roads in Grand Turk, it reminded me of all the bumps I tired to avoid. And those donkeys were everywhere. After our excursion, we stayed at on the beach at Margaritaville & walked down to Jack's Shack to see Topher. When I go back to Grand Turk, I do plan on going snorkeling again.

I want to go to St. Kitts & St. Maarten someday.

I am very happy for my sister going back for her RN after being a LPN for 19 years. She told me I had to cruise for me & her until she gets out of school which is something I will gladly do. Lol.

Ohh..I was so excited to read about St Kitts as this is a new port for us and I was hoping for a wonderful experience to book for ourselves. Well, thanks for the honest review and what NOT to do.

BTW, if you ever do tour El Morro you have to visit the bathroom...most AMAZING views out the windows in there.

From one midwest gal to another, I really enjoy your reviews. I sincerely hope that one day we can cruise on the same trip, as I have a feeling we'd have a blast. Other than your aversion to steak, we have a lot of similarities, except you spend more time in the sun than I do, as I'm usually in the shade.

I hope your eye is beginning to feel better and your sight is improving.

I have to agree that GT and St Thomas are a few of my favorites. I really need to cruise out of San Juan and see more on a pre-cruise time frame, I think, in order to appreciate it more I guess.

I have not tried Magen's yet because, although everyone says it's pretty, they say it's such a tourist trap, no snorkeling, pay to get in, and that it's a VERY crowded beach because they push all the cruisers into going there. I absolutely LOVED Coki and Sapphire for the snorkeling and Sapphire was so beautiful. But, I will have to try something different next time, and it will probably be Magens just to experience it. :)

Well, I always say that you should never go or not go some place because of someone else's review and you should always experience it for yourself and form your own opinion. Maybe Conkleshell would be the perfect place you would like...maybe that beach but a different beach club. You just never know. :)

Aww, thanks so much for the comments. So then you are a popaholic then right? :D

My eye sucks! Seriously! Yesterday I developed double vision, my vision is COMPLETELY blurry and I can't see a thing and there's white fog across my entire field of vision. I'm really having a hard time and can't wait to get back to the doctor on Tuesday for him to remove this "band-aid contact" from my eye. They said it would be normal for my vision to fluctuate back and forth for up to 2 months, but I did NOT envision that I would almost totally lose my eyesight in this way. My eye is pretty much useless at this point. :(

I was a popaholic until about 2 years ago. In fact, my pop addiction was so bad, I pretty much went through a case of it every 2 days. I went cold turkey about 2 years ago and now only have one when eating out. I no longer buy it for the house.

I so hope that once the "band-aid" is taken off that the double vision, blurriness and white fog are gone. Prayers that it improves for you!

If you could only see how big I have made my screen words. LOL (You know the trick by holding down the control button and scroll you mouse until the words are ginormous? Yep, that's my screen right now. But I have been taking frequent naps due to the extreme headaches from the vision. I went back to work today...the hubby chauffeured me around all day. It was interesting.

Wow! I love it!
