Love your review! Can't wait to read more. I'll be on the Conquest in a couple months. Also going to HMC and Grand Turk.

And I definitely don't think you guys are boring because you don't drink. My husband and I don't drink either. We don't need alcohol to have fun. [emoji4]

But yikes, 4 teenagers at age 34?! [emoji15] I'll bet you really needed this vacation, lol! I also had my son young (at 20), so I am now 39 with a 19-year-old. I get a lot of awkward "You're his mom?" comments. I'll bet you get the same. [emoji6]

Lol, yes I get the "there's no way your old enough to have teenagers" all the time. Thankfully they are great kids and don't give us much trouble. It was nice having time alone, but we missed them too.

Loving your review! We're on the Conquest in June. Different itinerary, but, I love reading reviews about the ship we're going to be sailing. Was your mini bar stocked? I would like to order some things for the cabin before we go.

Day 3: Grand Turk

This is one of mine and Brad's favorite ports! We were up at 7 and getting ready, then down to Lido for breakfast at 8:00. By 9 we were off the ship and walking right outside the gate to meet someone from Karib for our golf cart. I had reserved the golf cart ahead of time and paid a $50.00 deposit. We paid the other 50 then hopped on our red cart and took off for the day. We rode all over the place and down back roads. We checked out all the churches, schools, and local stores. We went down little trails to find beaches where nobody else was and found huge conch shells to bring home. I always love seeing the donkeys just roaming around and the flamingos grouped together. The people there are always nice and they wave as we ride by. Every time we visit Grand Turk we love it more and more.

We eventually made our way to the Lighthouse. I love the view of the water from there. We got a drink and sat in the shade a few minutes to watch people zip line over the ocean. It looked fun!

After we cooled off and finished our sodas, we headed back towards the ship. Around 1:00 we were at Governor's Beach and decided to check it out and swim for a while. The water is always so beautiful in Grand Turk.

At 2 we headed to Jack's Shack to try some local food. I've read a lot about this place on CC, but had never been. It was busy! People were everywhere, but we found a table and ordered the special of the day, the combo plate. This was conch and jerk chicken with fries. We also got a side of rice and 2 cokes. It was $29.75 for our lunch, not to bad. The food was good. I really enjoyed the rice. By 3 we were finished eating and ready to turn in our golf cart and get back on the ship.

Here's a few more pictures from Grand Turk. This is one of those ports where you can just get off the boat and go straight to the beach for the day. But, if you have the chance to get out and see the island you should.

By 3:30 we were back onboard the Conquest and went straight to the room to shower and get ready for the rest of our day. When we walked into the room we were surprised to see a towel heart on the bed with 2 gift certificates for our anniversary. One was a $25.00 wine card and then $50.00 for the spa. That was a nice gesture from Carnival.

We watched sail away at 5:00 and around 5:45 went to the dinning room. Tonight they were showing Star Wars on the Lido at 7. A lot of people were out for that movie. They also had Hasbro the game show and the Love and Marriage show. We passed on both shows because we've seen them several times and I knew they'd show them on TV. Brad and I both were exhausted from our full day in Grand Turk and one side of my body had some lovely sunburn. We were in bed by 8:45 watching the basketball playoffs, especially since the Charlotte Hornets were playing. We both have laughed about how much we rested this cruise. We are very busy people and never nap or take a day off. It was nice to come home from vacation with energy!

Never been to Grand Turk. Is it easy to get around the island. I would love to do the exact same thing as you did, but I would be worried that we would get lost & miss the ship lol.

Grand Turk is only 7 miles long, so you don't need to worry about being late to the ship. They will give you a map that's easy to follow and most local people will give you directions if you ask. We get a golf cart every time and we love it!

Do the golf carts have a passenger limit? We are a fam of 6, the kids are 12, 10, 8 & 6 and not very big.

We have only ever rented carts big enough for 4 people, but we were telling the young couple we met in hot tub about the golf carts and they told the rest of their group. They were able to get a cart for 6 that morning. I don't know if they rented from Karib or the company that was set up beside him. The 2 sisters from Georgia managed to get a cart that morning as well. They all went as soon as they could get off the boat. The family of 6 found us and thanked us for the info because they had a great time and their 6 person cart was still just $100 for the day.

Great! Thank you for the info, touring the island on the golf cart sounds like a lot of fun!

Day 4: Amber Cove

Part of the reason we picked this cruise was so we could go to this new Port. We were up by 7 getting ready for the day and room service was delivered at 7:20. We had our coffee, fruit, and danishes out on the balcony while the ship pulled into port. By 8 we were getting off the ship and making our way down to find our excursion. Since this port is fairly new I wasn't able to find much outside of booking through Carnival. We booked the Lifestyle Serenity VIP excursion. When I booked it several months back I was told only a limited number of people were allowed, no more than 50. That was not the case though. The line kept getting longer and longer as we waited. Around 8:40 we headed to the buses. We had a pretty nice air conditioned bus ,but there were so many people that half of them wouldn't fit and they had to wait on a 2nd bus. It was about a 15 minute ride to the resort, so we were off the bus and on the beach at 9:15. The staff was ready and greeting people with mimosas.

The area was nice and all the staff was pleasant. There were plenty of beds, hammocks, chairs and pillows to go around even though there were a lot of people. The beach area wasn't huge, but it was big enough. One thing we noticed was that the canopy and chairs at the nicest part of the beach had bags, books, and flip flops in them already. Around lunch time people who were staying in the resort came to the beach. They had saved the area they wanted the night before. We met several other families who were also staying at the resort. When I think of Serenity, I think of not crowded, not loud, and peace. I'm sure I'm in the minority because most people seemed to love this excursion, but for me it wasn't on my list of favorites.

The bar was going strong as soon as we got settled in on the beach. Even in my drinking days I couldn't drink that early, lol. But I guess people were getting their money's worth. $70.00 for all you can eat and drink isn't a bad deal for some.

The bartenders were nice and fixed me several frozen drinks with out alcohol in them. There was an oyster bar, but that day it was serving ceviche. Brad tried it and said it was good and spicy.

At 11:00 the crepe bar opened and you could order from the grill. A lot of people didn't realize that and they didn't announce it. I happened to read it in small letters on something at the bar. The grill had hotdogs, cheeseburger, montery chicken sandwich, and nachos. We got the chips, cheese and salsa but just ate from the buffet lunch at 11:30. We did try the crepes out and they were good! If you pick this excursion don't miss out on the crepes.

Here's a few pics of the bar, oyster bar, and crepe station.

At 11:30 a long line had formed for the lunch buffet. The bus driver and tour guide said lunch was 11:30, but the staff was telling people 12. They finally said to come on through at 11:40. The food was good and there was plenty to choose from. They had a nice outdoor area of tables and chairs set up and servers were taking drink orders. Brad really liked the pork chops and I liked the pasta salads and potatoes.

We had crepes for dessert.

After lunch we went back to our beach bed and lounged around. I tried to get in the water, but it was cold. The tour guide said it rained the day before and that's why it was so cool.

So I was getting some sun and decided to roll over. Right behind our bed was a swing and a couple staying at the resort was having a good ole time making out and taking pictures of each other. Hey, to each his own...I mean I have 4 kids so I'm not exactly a nun. Lol But, when this older, larger women turned to sit on her MUCH younger man's lap I realized she was topless with a white see through cover on. It was not a pretty site! I almost started laughing and I was trying to roll back over with out it being obvious. She was posing and he was snapping away with his cell phone. They then moved to bean bag pillows behind the swing and I decided to get up and get a drink so my eyes could recover. My husband is still laughing about that whole situation.

At 1:30 it was time to get back on the bus and head back to the port. Some people on the bus were complaining about how short the excursion was for the price. I would of liked to had a little more time because once it started warming up real good it was time to leave. Another thing was that the pools were closed that day. They took a group over on golf carts and had to bring them right back. Here's a few more pics from the excursion.

We were back in port a few minutes after 2 so we checked out the pool and cabanas there and walked inside a few shops to get a magnet and new sunglasses for Brad. We didn't have to be back on board until 3:30 so we got a coffee from a little place and used the WiFi to FaceTime some family and let Brad check work emails.

We cleaned up for the afternoon while watching sail away from the balcony. We grabbed a grilled cheese and a pastrami from the deli then we walked around the shops, looked for pictures, and listened to the Strings Trio playing in the lobby area. They were actually pretty good.
